I'm updating the Difficulty Settings for this Squad Challenge for GAME 3 - You'll need all the lives you can get because in this game Evil Otto is invincible and the robots stalk you with their lasers. Atari has not included an updated matrix of Game variations in their online instructions.

Here are some real Pro-Tips for scoring big in BERZERK ENHANCED EDITION:

    Quickdraw
As you move from one maze to another, continue pressing the fire button. It takes the robots a moment to start their attack - you can often zap them first when you enter shooting.

    Predicting Otto's Entrance
Evil Otto always enters in the same place you do. Try to get away from this danger zone and near an exit as soon as possible.

    Escape to the Sides
Because Evil Otto bounces up and down, it's easier to escape him through the side exits than the top or bottom exits.

Take Cover as Robots Obliterate Themselves
In difficult levels where there are a lot of fast-moving, fast-shooting robots, head for the cover of a maze wall immediately. Allow the robots to collide with each other and to shoot one another or to walk into your firing range. But don't wait long or you'll be trapped!

    Scoring
You score 50 points for each robot destroyed. When all the robots in a single maze are destroyed, you score ten bonus points per robot. Robots explode when they're hit by your laser or the lasers of other robots, and when they run into maze walls, collide with each other, or get pounded by Evil Otto. You can score a total of 999,990 points before the score rolls over.

    All:
My sincerest wish is for all that are here to have a wonderful holiday season.  May you have health, happiness, and success in your lives.  And if not, a hope that those things come to you very soon.
We as a group have so much to be thankful for in our retro collecting and fun.  I always find that we can do much to improve the lives of others -- to give back by volunteering or giving to our causes of choice.  No pressure intended, but if you can, it feels good to give assistance to those in need and make our world a better place.
My wife and I chose three charities to donate to this season.  Not only that, but the company I work for matches these donations!  I'll post links to the charities we chose.  Again, no obligation at all.  But if you decide to donate, please post links to those charities below to give ideas to others.
For your info, Atari.io users have participated in and supported this type of giving for many years.  From Alzheimer's Walks, to Extra-Life video game fundraising...please SHARE your giving and give everyone a chance to support those causes.
    Thanks very much!

There are fan made end labels for the 5200 carts that you can purchase and add to the carts.  They look very nice and make the carts look more complete.  Also, you can stack then as you've done with the 2600 carts and you'll be able to know which game it is.  Check these in Etsy:  Atari 5200 Sticker end Labels (For All 154 Custom Game Stickers).  These are even better than the ones I have!

I remember owning Yars' Revenge when I was  a kid, but I never got hooked on it. Fast forward to today, and I still haven't played this highly regarded game very much. I hope to change that with this month's high score challenge.
Reading the manual certainly help in learning about the game and getting into the mood -- pulsing, scintillating fireball. I love all the terminology and names but Swirl is a bit disappointing especially when compared to other cool game element names like Zorlon Cannon or Qotile or even Yar (aka cosmic fly) 😂 When I hear "swirl," I immediately think ice-cream 🍦

Not to see who has the biggest or anything, but I'm curious about how many individual games you all own.  My number is 1876 (which is down by about 10% over the last couple of years).  For me personally, this helps explain why I've slowed down so much on collecting and tried to focus more on playing.

ULTIMATE YARS: GAME 6. Ultimate Yars features a bouncing Zorlon Cannon, plus some wild twists that distinguish this version of Yars' Revenge from all the others. What should you expect? First, you must bounce the Yar against the left side of the screen to make the Zorlon Cannon appear. Also, to make the cannon appear, you need five TRONS. TRONS are units of energy which you can collect at the following rate:
Eat a cell from the shield: 1 TRON Touch the Qotile: 2 TRONS Catch a Zorlon Cannon shot after it bounces off the shield: 4 TRONS If a Yar bounces on the left side with less than five TRONS, it will not get a shot, but it won't lose the TRONS it has either. (Each time a Yar is destroyed, it loses its TRONS). Each Yar has a capacity of 255 TRONS. If a Yar tries to take on more than that, it will short out and the Yar will lose all its TRONS. The count of TRONS is not displayed on the screen. Yar scouts understand the count instinctively.

Welcome to our 151st Squad Challenge! This month we're playing ULTIMATE YARS! - which is what we call Yars' Revenge for the Atari 2600, being played on Game 6, the most challenging difficulty settings. Special thanks to @RickR for nominating this game! PDF Instructions are attached below.
A note about ROMs in High Score Squad: as the Atari landscape is quickly changing, we won't always be able to attach a ROM file for High Score Squad Challenges in the future. I will always do my best to include the best PDF Instructions available, and a ROM when possible. If you ever have trouble locating a ROM and need one, you can always PM one of us and we can help point you in the right direction. Good luck!

    Congratulations RickR!

Congratulations to @Marco1019 on another incredible victory! Squad Legend Marco takes the top spot in our Final Standings with an outstanding score of 43,669 points. Incredible! @socrates63 is back in action and hot on Marco's tail, closing out in 2nd with an absolutely stellar 42,042 points! @Atari 5200 Guy fought valiantly for 3rd Place and takes it with 32,804 points. "The Mayor" @greenween comes in with 26,969 points to take 4th, and "The Don" @RickR takes 5th Place in our Final Standings with a cool 18,463 points. Squad Challenge newcomer and VCS Legend @Mockduck scored 15,704 points to take 6th Place on the board. @Mockduck receives an asterisk* next to his name in the Final Standings as he posted his 7800 Centipede score in the Club VCS Recharged Squad Challenge for Centipede: Recharged - but Mockduck posted his score on time and played in good faith, and we want to acknowledge his gamesmanship and be sure his 7800 Centipede score is included with the rest of ours. Welcome to High Score Squad @Mockduck! We also welcome back once again recent Squad Challenge newcomer @Smell Dawg who takes 7th Place with a strong showing of 15,625 points. @TrekMD beams up with 11,370 points, taking 8th Place, and VCS Guru @Sabertooth fought a fierce battle, taking 9th Place with 10,470 points.
We had a great Double Feature this month with the Atari 7800 and the VCS! As always I'd like to encourage the legendary @Marco1019 to  post his high score on the Scoreboard, and let's make sure this Challenge continues on! Congratulations once again to Marco for his BIG WIN, and I want to thank both @Gianna for nominating this game, as well as @Sabertooth for hosting the other end of this Double Feature in Club VCS!
👉 Be sure to join Club VCS this month to participate in our Recharged Squad Challenges for the new Atari VCS!
