  1. Have you updated the retropie emulation station front end? Found in the configuration for the retro pie? Latest vrsions 4.2 I think fixed and I proved a huge amount of emulators under the hood of retro pie.
  2. Well I was originally told November 18 and then that mysteriously leap to December 2 so my book is on a banana boat somewhere. Cancelling the order won't make it get here any sooner, I went for regular delivery charges, but didn't think that meant fecking dark ages..
  3. Tops...... I can't understand the UK is 40 min plane flight, they get the book over there on time and living in Ireland appears to be some far away tropical location to where things arrives months later? By the time the book arrives either his second book will be in production or the postman-men will know about the content than I will You guys are living it up over while I play hiding in the closet waiting there like Mike Myers in a boiler suit. Not happy about this..
  4. That's is so unfair..I hate you!!, I ordered this in June or something and now im being told mine won't arrive till freaking December 2nd, that's outrageous, what the hell are they sending by..pigeon! Imy aware the book is all retro, but wasn't bloody expecting the postage to be retro too..this is definitely a guru meditation
  5. I'm avoiding all reviews on this until it arrives, I don't want any spoilers in any form, so I've I've put my hands over both my ears and eyes on this..I bet your all wondering how is he typing this message then? I'm using a Cx-10 joystick with my foot to point on the letters..only took 2 hrs to write this message
  6. I myself ordered this in may and got confirmation that it will be shipped early next month so it won't be long before this awesome book is in my hands, will be clearing my calendar when this arrives
  7. If there was enough new material and someone that had written a heap of reviews or willing too, I'd have no problem sharing the profits for their deserving work with them for their colaberation and I promise not to make them agree to their own terms and turn around and agree to those terms where as the indivual goes back on their word and claims I ripped them off so that I'm named and shamed to whole 5 pepole. Or hold them to ransom because they may not like who else is involved even though that's none of their business in the first place. So you've read it here first..this would be my disclaimer thank you..
  8. I think this solution here would to do this over a series you tube videos, upon given a small review of title along side title bit of info or quotes, but it would be a big job, and judging by the number of hits atari 8bit games get on you tube is quite small com pared to other which is a bloody disgrace. Or the other alterative is to do it via a blog style website about it, making it a magazine format wouldn't be doable as they would just be seen as another game review, possibly Pro © Atari could be the route here for this or that other atari 8bit magazine Excel 8bit? But I think we've preserved a lot here too, so it could be a suggested article, this would be prefect for that minority report section in RG, but please get some one else other that Kieren Hawkens to write it, he's disinformed enough people in who don't know what to believe, it would have to be written by somebody that actually knows these games and lived those decades so no late comer wannabes
  9. Maybe we could do a colaberation on the definitive guide to the Atari 8bit killer machine? As least the info and reserach would be accurate so the content wouldnt have any sort of window dressing you see these days, I can safely say that...that ship has sailed on them missing out on so many games that would have convinced many that the humble atari 8bit could put up a fight with the likes of the ZX spectrum,c64 and Amstrad cpc. When I the right hands could do fantastic things, I'll have a dig into my memory chips and see what else I can come up with..also to ote the Atari 8bit was the machine that got me into the demo scene, from the 8bit to the ST, amiga and PC, so I have Atari to thank for this.
  10. Hi way dual was another one I was lucky to play, great music remake of a classic piece of music which seemed to be the craze for a lot of Atari 8-bits games back then, another one which had great music and graphic for its time was one called "Nadral" ever hear of that one? Check out the video below and just listen to the music.
  11. Ahh wow that's takes me back I remember this very well thanks the bbs scene, that video doesn't do the game justice, fantastic scrolling, with the premise of finding candles and lighting the lamps, while avoiding ghost and bats, the two player mode was class, as your opponent couldn't light any unlike lamps until you used the candle before reappearing elsewhere plus you had the timewarp gates opening throughout the level and for each level complete the layout of the land would change, so you weren't traversing over a repeated area. Schreckinstein was a great killer app from German (Axis Komputing) who Mainly did adventure games, this was a break from those type of games, I'm almost sure some of the team at Axis did work on Compy Shop demosTo which you can see the brilliance Atari 8bit coding, this is 1988
  12. Now that is a really nice looking game, very tight controls by the look of it and matching graphics, the author who this machine, I'll have to check this one, it's a new to me, so many thanks for showcasing pal. It's always great to find these hidden gems , dam shame nobody is doing worthy reviews on this stuff anymore
  13. Lol that's what happen when you have the scope of a goldfish regarding software for the ST machine, most ST users or should I say the majority of them only ever experienced the main stream titles and had fuck all clue what was outside the confines of there home town computer store, regardless of what the magazines where showcasing it simply didn't compete with the big software houses unless they released them, so this is how limited a lot of so called ST expert wannabes are, which is a total lost to them never going to have experienced the fun and excitement we did back then. The St was incredibly verse in its software a lot more than people give it credit for, that is why we are here to say different. I just hate educating the self proclaimed supremo's in my book the lame-o's Kudos pal.
  14. Here's a couple more of those games that did more than a simple PMG routine Tagalon from Tynesoft Thunderfox from Atari UK - a superb Uridium clone for the a8 1987 Realm of Impossibility from Electronic Arts Run for IT from Optimum Resources Ltd.
  15. Hilarious this one, I remember this game very well and for the choice of copy Kat releases, this was a complete take 16-bit rendition of the classic Synaps Software "Fort Apocalypse" I played back in 1984, such great memories of that game here is a comparison video from the Atari 8bit version, tough as shit, but brilliant had far better scrolling than the ST version too. This St version of the game tho, had great title music, The music being possible written by the same musician from another game with light cycles called "Extensor" and can been seen here had to have written By Holger Gehrmann a great programmer and musician himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne91C7NX19U Some other under appraised titles worth for inclusion are Outzone from Lankhor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRuu4GR5EKg Phobia from Imagework(Poxy tough game this) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-mIlBmf064 And a great little gem of a game.. Skyrider (had a great digitised opening tune if you had 1 meg machine) which took the Gold Runner concept one step further. Game start about 3:38 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kC8IgS-MFA Have a good one.
  16. Yes, very sad indeed, some many games that didn't make it, and a majority of ones that did that were terrible should of found themselves in the lost games limbo.
  17. I started watching this show and only got about three episodes in or maybe four of season one, I personally don't know what happened and why I didn't return to it, YT I suspect after all this time I'd have to start from episode one again , I think the likes of game of thrones and walking dead got in the way, followed by stranger things, but I must return to it as its a huge part of my computer growing up days and was impressed with the accuracy of the shows timeline events and computer interests, I will have to return to it at some stage.
  18. The video covers a good selection, but none that have been mentioned here, after having another bash at Armalyte , it is a little basic and ordinary for a shooter ad upon looking at its a run of the mill affair, but hey its still nostegic for me. Your reference to Platoon and Wizball, I loved Wizball, I though Pete Johnson did a great port of it, platoon I loved for the music created by David Whittaker, the game was ridiculously hard and misdirectional. But I though Wizball was ace, but yest it didn't push the hardware but did it need too? Yeah StarRay , blood money, Silk worm and it's sequel SWIV were brilliant, but aren't mentioned in the video above, but this is a trail video to see what works and what didn't, so I suspect to see another one, that should cover these hopefully or I might just do one myself
  19. I cam across this fantastic video thanks to my friends on Twitter from a you tuber by the name "Games of Gears" this looks to be the first of many hopefully ST videos showing again how great the ST is as a games machine, highly polished production values, this guy knows how to present them. So please show your support by giving it a watch and start a little topic on your favorite ST shooters that wheren't on the listed. Check out the video here For me FTL's "Oids" ERE's "Trauma" Nexus Information Systems's "Hades Nebula" Firebird's "Mr.Heli" Thalamus 's "Armalyte - The Final Run" All great shooters in my opinion... Have a good one.
  20. Cheers fella, I always feel that if making these that I represent some of my most favour games or characters from them, if that's the case then the Atari back catalogue will see me creating a vast amount of T-shirts solely based on them bounty Bob being one of many.. What characters from the golden age of Atari or 3rd party games are your favourites ? Or platform where your heroes live?
  21. Thanks for the interest guys, here are some of the thing I set out to do between 2008 and 2011, I think, so I hope you enjoy the tshirt fan art. [ing]http://i33.tinypic.com/33vydn7.png[/img] Since these I've created many more as these are quite old now and have evolved to a much better presentation and design astatic to what has been presented here by miles, I might dig out some more recent tshirt concepts, unfortunately none of these can be purchased from any store or site, as these where designs I created for myself in getting them printed , I think out of them , I've gotten 5 of them as tshirts Thanks guys.
  22. These are fantastic, I should post my Atari tshirts I designed back a few years, to see what you guys think?
