It deeply saddens me to read that, knowing what your saying is completely true. For something that started out as being part of entertainment and still is in my opinion rather than riding off the backs of other people's work as a cash in is the harsh reality of it and with that type of information Leeching will soon come to a great end if there simply isn't folk out there who were apart of this history time line who have passed away or have no memory of events will truly shine a spot light on these indivuals when it comes to fact finding rather than fantastic imagination of factual invention lol.

But it was always going to happen that 4th next generation was going to be the next retro to which I've lived through also and have a great many memories as well as some great stories of my own regarding the Sony ps1 days from the piracy aspect of things to winning competitions at Electronic Boutique and Virgin Megastore on the ps1, but I doubt that would fit lol, but I asume that this is coming as things of pre 1990's is laid to rest. I hilarious thing is that someone who has little or no real experience with these 4th generation machines are going to be so called out in a flash if not researched or people tracked down correctly on their Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn account lol.

I've seen this for sometime, but I would think that this repeated content when and where it shows up from previous publications is I feel a coming full circle approach whereby new readers and people new to the subject it's all brand new to them, leaving the likes of us rolling our eyes are more or less something we either read or knew years ago.

I personally feel that the people and in fact software companies back in the golden age are running out now or people from your experience can't remember accurately what happened on this game or that game etc. so yes your spot on, that it's nig-near impossible to bring something special to table for the diehard fans or historians like yourself. There is many great Atari designers especially on the Atari 8-bit I'd loved to see covered in a publication more so than the 16bit days, as a huge majority where done by software houses like Ocean Software etc.which have being covered to death. I love the one to one affair like your Pete Lyon interview, that type of thing.

Oh yes... the UK crowd lol.  Ive have some major battles in the past, especially when I started out, how ever Tom Charnock from Dreamcast Junkyard has been a real support. Im just doing what Im doing and others, I guess aren't fans... and I'm ok with that.

The problem of Amiga/ST was the fact, that CBM and Atari haven't recognized the winds of change. As in 8Bit-times they haven't improved the hardware over the years or they hadn't done in in time. There was no need to improve the C64, so they thought the same for ST and Amiga. For example the Falcon was almost two years too late.

CBM hadn't realized, that the Amiga was an Entertainment machine. They wanted a business machine. The A1000 was too expensive for the consumer-market and there was not enough software to be successfull in the business-sector. They saw no use or need to support software developers for office software. So these developers went to Apple and Mac. CBM also had financial problems in 1985/86. Not very auspicious for the introduction of a new machine.

Both had underestimated the consoles as contenders. The C64GS and the Atari XEGS are good examples for that failure.

Even the pre-Windows-PC was not really realized as a danger: "Our GUI-machines are much better than that DOS-CLI-fuss! Nuff' said!"
Now they are older and wiser.

The neckbreaking point for CBM was the Amiga 600, technically a real nonsense with the smell of mothballs. They produced a huge number of them. In favour of the A600 the development of other models was reduced. All done by Bill Sydnes, who was called the human bus error! CBM Germany wanted to sell 200 000 A600 in three months. Imagine that. Even in "Amigaland" Germany these were crazy numbers. And as mentioned above the Falcon was a late bird, but technically spoken brilliant. Same about Amiga 1200.

The QL had had another problem. It was a UK-only machine. In Germany was little to read about that machine. Oh, there was a german version with black-red-gold-tricolour and QWERTZ-keyboard, but the written news weren't overwhelming, advertisement nonexistent. Imo even the european market as a whole was not enough to withstand the ST.

That is the "ANYTHING GOES" of Atari!

It was the promise of a better future. There was a glimpse of a better future, an utopic version of all that could be.

Call me crazy, but that was my Atari. I grew up with Captain Future and the possibility to explore the universe and an utopic perspective. This may be childish, but i remember this from time to time and i feel good.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while and thought it was actually going to be released last year but it didn't happen. It's still new with being only a couple of days available but haven't had the time to check it out yet. Hopefully sometime within the next few weeks. It'll be especially interesting since I was more the Atari-guy than an Amiga guy, ever.

I owned an A4000 Video Toaster once and dabbled with it for a brief period of time, far after the time period it was intended to be used in, but was impressed by the speed of the machine. Never did end up taking to Workbench very warmly but I guess that's because I was so used to the simplicity of TOS. Kind of surprised to hear it's only an hour long as well, being that it's been in development for so long. Surely there was or is enough material to make it 90-minutes as you've suggested Greyfox. Either way, it'll be something nice to finally watch.

Seems like it would make a good companion to watching From Bedrooms to Billions, which I've also yet to see.

I have not seen this, I was not in a position to back it so I am not entitled. I always find in general they just do not compare to the memories, history, experienced living through the entire AMIGA era, though I could never afford much I was a fanatic about reading and researching ever bit of info about Commodore, the AMIGA hardware and the entire process, the hopes, the dreams, the failures, the shattered dreams etc, I have yet to learn anything "new" from these types of films but that said always good to see a film focused on AMIGA as I was always annoyed at either the revisions version or complete lack of inclusion AMIGA had in 98% of any type of computing history articles or film. Hope to see it someday.

Just finished watching this...The Viva Amiga movie....worth waiting five years FOR? .....In all honesty .....YES....I've loved the style and editing acumen Zachary Weddington has excused within the film's presentation and insight. The flow works very well and although some of it content has being covered since, this doesn't matter, it's about the Amiga and this film truly champions this throughout the entire film. I will admit I was in the same boat as the majority of the backers with the dismay of how things were handled and excuted as well as the lack of correspondence to backers or wasn't enough for vast periods of time. But the fact that the film is actually out now is testimony to the film maker keeping his promise even if we are the back end of queue which I find extremely bizarre and a little disrepecting of those that made it happen.

The only qem for me within the film was no coverage of what is a huge clunk of the Amiga community the "Demo Scene" a real missed opportunity here or enough insight with Pacific software that made the Amiga mind blowing. .Newtek was great, but should have had more company profiles included, it's no biggie though, you won't really notice the time flying by..and last but not least the Duration of the film...1hr? Really? How did this happen? Generally any documentaries I've ever seen are normally 1hr 30 mins or greater? It was all over way to soon for me...so soon...made me sad..????..hopefully the extras due will help ease the pain but this really suprised me?

If you love the old school stuff and computers regardless what you owned this is well worth getting , it's another archived slice of computer history everyone should see and own..if not only to see my name in the credits at the end..???? I was responsible for the kickstarter graphics and artwork in case you were wondering.

Anyone else support this five years ago? If you've recently purchased the film , what did you THINK? Comparing this to From Bedroom to Billionaires:Amiga Years 6.5hrs of content?

Wow..very much touched my your comments fella. All the reviews were written by Steve himself which were originally on his website AtariCrypt but where rewritten for the magazine, so really it's all down to him that this actually made it to fruitation in the first place, I'd contacted him in mid September and wanted to actually turn this into a digital magazine to help create awareness for his website, like many ST websites they seem to go unnoticed due to other platforms in cases undeservingly stealing the limelight from the ST or fans simply not known his website exists. Well that shit just got real..lol.

I was just the engine here, were Steve was a car turn, I wanted to do this for him free of charge because of his true passion for the ST and all its quirks and that's who I want to work with when doing a publication , so it was really a no brainier . But the rabbit hole doesn't end there, in a sneak move I also did that 2017 Atari ST calendar and...wait......for........it....part took in a collective collaboration with a very brand new Atari ST scene release called "Collaboration One" demo slideshow to which I created the opening "STatariART" image is all its 16 colour glory, so also now apart of the ST demo scene circuit. Below is a video of our new demo, I hope to be more involved on their next release. So it looks like we have won fella , he in doors is best to turn in his grave and look the other way now and decompose

Thanks for all your awesome feedback and everyone here at Atari IO....Merry Christmas

Hiya pal..many thanks for your generous comments on the magazine, i can't speak for the content magazine throw away on people in order to fill their pages, this magazine is more of a labour of love for the writer Steve and a pet project for me and has turned out brilliantly , I must say. This is Volume one of the archives of his site "AtariCrypt" to which I converted it to a digital Magazine format, we both decided to make it completely free for the supporters of the Atari ST scene and Atari in general, some great guys up there on the facebook pages covering the Atari ST platform.

As regards to future volumes, that's entirely up to Steve, I produced the first one for him but will not be producing any after that, as I've come to my final entry of producing Atari ST content, like with the St Gamer magazine it was a bucket list thing for me and had not idea I'd be doing the third one..lol..but Steve made it easy, having the written word as it was, I simply had to do graphics around it. Something that made the process much easier than doing the ST gamer magazines. So no. I won't be involved after this one.

I have to say though the response we've been given so far has been incredible, both on Facebook and Twitter is simply staggering. every time I come back I had a tonne of notifications etc..so I'm happy I've done my job well again here.

just to mention ignore all the suggestions Google drive comes up with, simply download it, you'll see the download icon animation in the top corner of your phone to tell you , you are downloading it. I suggest a pdf reader like Acrobat etc. to view properly or a laptop of some kind..also to mention everything within the magazine has been hyper linked, so you simply click on the articles you wish to read and it will bring you directly to them etc..

    have a good oner pal.
