  1. Update: "Haunted Garage Grandpa" (as we've come to call him) has fallen off the wall! We don't think this was an accident. More news at 11.
  2. My kids have a Wii U and love it. They were shocked that there are 161 games!
  3. Been on a bit of a hot streak lately: Talking LCD pinball game from 1988 Top Gun for PS1 A true technical oddity - Sony Mavica camera. It stores pictures on floppy disk! It didn't come with a battery, but works fine with the charger. What a ridiculous thing to buy. Of course I bought it. A power adapter that should work with a 2600. I found an awesome ArcadeUSA review of the pinball game:
  4. Looks great. The original 2600 version has a little screen shimmy when your ship crashes into the ground. If possible, that should totally be included in your new version.
  5. Today's finds. I had my eye out for Genesis Monopoly after watching NSG's review: Jetforce Gemini is a new one to me, but it looks like fun.
  6. No worries, we are an easy-going bunch. Let's see how the timing works through the next few people on the list. If we need to adjust the list, we'll move you down. I'm going to guess you'll be just fine right where you are.
  7. PS - I used this link to ship using Paypal. The cost was $17.05 https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now
  8. THE JUNK BOX IS GOING OUT TODAY! Duct tape added for extra longevity! No burnishing though. I added a little wrinkle for myself -- I put something in the box specifically for the first recipient. Will my guess be right? It will be interesting to see if they take that specific item. In any case, the box should arrive Tues or Wed in Atlanta, THANKS!
  9. Great scores up there in the top 3! Nicely done everyone.
  10. The projector does audio! It has two speakers. Surprising because the projector is very small. I think about 7" square and 3 inches tall. It's a good "beginner" unit, that's for sure. I think the higher end models use a real bulb that's much brighter. But for what I paid, this thing is opening my mind to new ideas.
  11. This video pretty much highlights all the reasons we should be skeptical of any crowd-funded video game console. If a large company couldn't do it.......
  12. I've never heard of Zoop. It looks like fun to me. Thanks for your excellent review.
  13. It all started as a purchase for Halloween. I found a very cheap LED projector at Goodwill with the idea of projecting ghost videos onto a sheet hung in a window of the house. This particular projector seems like it was never used. It came in the box and the parts were wrapped in plastic. It has a variety of inputs...HDMI, composite, USB, VGA, SD Card, and USB stick. I ended up hooking up a plug-n-play just to start testing, and it turned out the be a BLAST. I need to set it up to be on a much bigger wall. Seems bright enough. The sound is nice and loud. For this purpose, it seems pretty good! Who else has given projector gaming a try?
  14. Went to an antique store at the beach today. They didn't have any video games....but when we left, I found this outside in the "Free" box! Now to find a "SingStar Microphone" for PS2
  15. One time, we did a Six Million Dollar Man skit in 3rd grade. i played Oscar Goldman! RIP, I loved that show, and he did a good job with the schlocky material given to him.
  16. What a great idea for a video. Your choices are solid. I'd add: Most any of the M-Network games. Especially Astroblast, which is even better than the intellivision Astrosmash. M-Network games don't have any flicker. They play great, and are a lot of fun. Star Voyager. There were 4 first person space shooters for the 2600 that all came out about the same time. This one is the most fun, yet seems to be overlooked by most (Star Raiders and Starmaster seem to get the most attention). Supercharger Frogger - this one is so dang impressive. Most people have never tried it. Indy 500. It came with special controllers, which is cool enough. So many fun variations if you have 2 players. Submarine Commander - A Sears exclusive. Very fun.
  17. Oh yeah, I see what you meant now. Control speed on the fly with the controller. That is a nice feature on the 5200 version. The game uses calculated 3D particle effects when you destroy an enemy ship. The math involved slows the animation down to a crawl...but it looks cool anyways. I know there has been a homebrew patch to fix this...but it doesn't look as nice.
  18. No, man....speed is controlled on the 8-bit using the 0-9 keys. "Speed 4, Mr. Sulu".
  19. Star Raiders is one of my all-time favorite games. But it's the 8-bit version that I love the most. It came out about 3 years before the 5200 version. I love the use of the keyboard for the various functions ("S" for shields, for example). It gave it a real "Star Trek" feel. This game was a true "killer app" for the 8-bit computers when they first came out. From what I've heard, the 5200 fixes a few bugs in the 8-bit computer version, but I haven't really noticed a difference. This was a 5200 game that used the controllers (especially the keypad and overlays) to great effect.
  20. Thanks for posting that video TrekMD. This new version of Soarin looks great! Fits the Epcot theme (international flavor and conservation) a lot better. I think I'll miss the "orange" smell portion of the ride a lot. And it's hard to tell by the video, but it seems like the original score has been toned down a lot. I really loved the original Mojave scene that included a very heavy cymbal/tamborine section. In any case, this looks like a great update to a very great ride.
  21. Cool! Looks like they've made the same change in California. I'll have to brave the nausea and give it a try next time we are in Los Angeles.
  22. My plan is to ship the junk box out on Saturday September 2. Not too late to sign up, or let me know of any changes to the order. Thanks again, everyone.
  23. I kind of miss the food-show (either version was fine). Reminded me a lot of "Country Bear Jamboree". I like Soarin' a lot, but it kind of makes me a little nauseous. It's kind of weird to have a California ride in Florida too.
