As a guy who does filmmaking on this forum, I'm going to put my 2 cents in on this conversation.

DaVinci Resolve is built for color grading footage, so it's not that great for actually editing the footage. It's more for filmmakers than YouTube vloggers.

You can get HitFilm 4 Express for free and it has almost as much functionality as Adobe products, but it's pretty resource intensive and you might have to take an afternoon to figure out how to use it (it's pretty user friendly, there's just so much you can do with it) https://hitfilm.com/express/

They made this with the free version (of course all of the VFX and 3D models were all made in other programs, but putting it all into the shot and doing clean up and everything was done in HitFilm):

It's just a raspberry pi with a fancy case and i/o ports. You could make that without too much computer knowledge for $120, some Legos, and some time. It's pretty cool though.

I haven't been active too much recently, but I definitely check in at least 3 times a week to see what's up. This community was really helpful in kickstarting my retro collection. I now have many systems and have spread that collection to audio equipment.

This community is the NICEST online community. None better. It's well moderated and small enough to make it manageable. Thanks for the great community guys!

A dude in a guitar builders group I belong to made this. All the work was done by hand including the paint job. He placed LED's under the pickups and up the fret board. Its amazing. I have an interview with him coming soon and plan to feature the guitar in a future video along with a ton of progress images I already have. This post is not to promote the video, but to share this with you. Thought some of ya might appreciate it, guitar players or not!!!

Would Atari Lynx have worked as a Nintendo Switch style game console? Imagine if Atari had boosted its resolution and released the Lynx with a docking station, TV connections and standard control pads for under $249? Lynx could have been Atari’s 16-Bit console and Atari's handheld. Had Atari done this in 1989 Lynx could’ve enjoyed a solid 4-5 year run as a console, and continued compatibility with Atari Jaguar via Comlynx. What do you think?

I just watched the first two episodes. They hit it out of the ball park with this one. This is an incredible show! Thanks to all of you who recommended it.

The music makes me think they've listened to The Retroist Podcast, it sounds a lot like the music Peachy makes for the show. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, click on our 2600 page and scroll down to the 2600 episode of The Retroist Podcast. That opening monologue of the show has that same viby synthesizer score as Stranger Things has)

I see so many nods to my favorite movies and TV shows from the past. The nods to E.T. are really obvious, especially with the shed in Will Byers' backyard, Mathew Modine's parallels to Peter Coyote in E.T., and the agents monitoring the area like E.T.'s eavesdropping van. I see references and influences from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Poltergeist, Firestarter, Jaws, Halloween, The Goonies, Stand By Me, Mad Max, The Thing, Nightmare On Elm Street, X-Files, Twin Peaks, Lost, and so many more.

All the references to Dungeons & Dragons, Lord of the Rings, John Carpenter, Richard Donner, and Steven King really brought it home for me. I love that the password to Castle Byers is Radagast.

This show says so much about Atari I/O culture without even mentioning Atari! My only real complaint about the show is the lack of Atari so far but it is nice to see kids riding their bikes and playing board games again!

This is an outstanding show, we really enjoyed watching this and plan to continue with more episodes this week! I'll post more thoughts as I have them.
