Got my first PS3 ever this year, too.
Been playing a lot of Skyrim on it. If you like open-world action RPGs, definitely check out Skyrim.
If you get it online, the Playstation Store has PS1 and PS2 games available to download at really affordable prices. I've got a lot of older PS1 RPGs that way.

Managed to reach 1 million points on Laser Blast in the Activision Classics game on my PSP, back in the day.
That was A LOT of tedious laser shooting, I can tell you. But it was super satisfying to finally hit 1 million and watch the number counter roll over to !!!!!!.
I used to have a photo of the feat, too, but it's off in the Google Cloud somewhere now.

Samus Returns is a very good remake of Metroid 2, but it is about time they put out a new 2D Metroid that isn't a remake.
However, they're still distracted with Prime 4, and that game is still a complete unknown regarding when it'll ever be released, so I imagine anything else Metroid related is on the back burner for the foreseeable future.

My Mom was all about Ms. Pac-Man. She was really good at it, too. Better than I'll ever be, lol.

Really, Atari is like a guy that went out and shot another, more famous person, then took his name and pretended to be the real deal, somehow fooling thousands of people in the process.
I'd call Atari a shambling, walking dead version of itself, but it's not even that. It's actually a shambling, walking dead version of Infogrames, I believe.

Same. I've said for a long time that I'm gonna get a Gamecube someday, but my Wii has perfect backwards compatibility with 'Cube games, so I've never actually needed one. If I ever get one, it'll mostly just be to say I have one.
That said, that Game Boy Player is pretty darn cool, and I wouldn't mind being able to play GB, GBC, and GBA games on tv.

Eeeh, I was off by 8.
133 games for INTV in total. 118 carts for the Master Component, 6 for the ECS, and 8 cassettes and 1 cart for the fabled and much delayed Keyboard Component, which is naturally ridiculously rare these days.
At any rate, 118, thereabouts, is a pretty attainable goal, but some of those later games are pushing three digits.

Whoa, wait, $86? Seriously? I knew it was a late release, but never realized it was that expensive. Then again, I've not yet got into 7800 collecting. Still on my list of long term plans, though, but yeesh. Ninja Golf will go a long time waiting.
I know how you feel about about wanting the full collection, though. A couple years ago I made it my plan to get all 125 commercial releases for the Intellivision. That plan was set back quite badly with the fire, but that's a goal I still have. But yeah, some of those late INTV releases are likewise eye-wateringly expensive.
It's always the late releases in a console's library that'll get you in the end.

@HDN Gamecube won our other hearts.

Man, things were so wild in the '70s that companies literally WERE advertising games everywhere.
I'm not sure whose idea it was to advertise video games on album covers, but that's really quite an inspired idea for the 1970s.
That said, not Chuck Norris Super-Kicks, surely they could have advertised ANYTHING else, lol.

Seriously, even though Sega had to bow out of the hardware market (which still sucks sooo much), at least they went out on the highest note possible.
PS2 may have won the numbers, but Dreamcast won our hearts.

The 21st Anniversary, and NOBODY mentioned Phantasy Star Online.
For shame.
Phantasy Star is such an underrated series, one of my favorites, though. Phantasy Star 4 was the first JRPG I ever beat, on my PSP.
Anywho. PSO is a radical departure from the first four games, but it's also pretty fun.
Pour one out for probably never getting a regular Phantasy Star again, though.

Coming back around to this post now after awhile, and now I do have a pretty valuable game, that was gifted to me by a good friend I know from theater. A game I'd been wanting to play for years, too, because it's one of the best games on the Gamecube, and for that reason, as well as being gifted from a good friend, there's no reason I'll part from it.
Sentimental value trumps money any day.

This is such a loaded question.
So many of those games are legit masterpieces.
I could never give just one favorite, but a list should suffice.
1. Windwaker definitely, even if I HAVE had to start that darn game three times. Someday, I will beat it. SOMEDAY.
2. Ocarina of Time, even if I did get stuck in the darn Forest Temple. Again, someday, man... SOMEDAY.
3. A Link to the Past, because OMG it's just about perfect.
4. Majora's Mask, the weirdest one of all,
And 5. Link's Awakening. It's a beautiful dream.
Did I forget to mention Breath of the Wild? Dude, that game is gorgeous.

I seriously gotta pick up a 7800 someday. Absolute pinnacle of what Atari could do, a shame it came out so late that the NES completely steamrolled it.
Didn't know a version of Robotron came out on it, though. Pretty ambitious, considering the dual-joystick setup that game requires. (Didn't know there was a N64 port of Robotron, either. I'll have to look that up.)

looks at some youtube videos, see if there is something missing like a ribbon cable ect. do some voltage checks here & there
http://www.intvfunhouse.com/faq/intv_faq7.php suggests trouble with a power circuit
Soldering does take a lot of practice but the biggest thing is to have good equipment .. well one of the things anyways
Practice on what I call "cadavers" stuff you don't really care about. My early work is just terrible. now I'm confident on pinball circuit boards (I haven't got to the surface mount stuff yet so that still scares me)
The equipment I got I asked for as Christmas & Birthday gifts and used them for my hobby, I have repaired other peoples pinball but AS A HOBBY (boy is that ever nerve wracking)
Eh, that's all entirely too technical for me, so if it ever gets repaired I'll hire a professional to do it.
But as there is no professional in my area that'll be a long time coming.
In the meantime I'm planning to just buy another, but this time I think I'll get an INTV 2 (even though I much prefer the original model) because shipping for the redesigned version is considerably less insane than for the monster-sized original.

I'm wondering if there's loose wires inside, or maybe the entire cartridge slot needs to be replaced.
But that'll involve soldering, so that's a no-go. I accidentally messed up a 2600 years ago with bad soldering.

I'm sorry, @LeeJ07. It must be very frustrating trying to build up your collection.
You should try taking it apart, however. You couldn't do any damage.
Are there any known common faults with the pins I should look for?
I know the power is working, the on/off switch is working, and the RF out is working, too. So the problem has to be the cartridge slot, but all I can find online is dirty pins, and I doubt very seriously it's just dirty pins.

Well, now I feel stupid.
It IS a lemon, and apparently I knowingly bought it as such. I don't remember doing that, but anyway.
I just checked the old listing from almost a year ago, and plain as day in the description, the seller says they couldn't get it to work, either.
I have NO IDEA why I'd knowingly purchase a faulty Intellivision. Maybe I just saw the original box and glossed right over the description, I don't know, but I'm definitely stuck with a glorified Mattel-branded paperweight.

As CrossBow touched on yes the NES Switchbox are not compatible with Pre-NES consoles like Intellivision, ColecoVision etc. So it is good to get a RF to coaxial cable adapter or even an original type of switchbox where you manual can slide the switch between TV / GAME select.
So, you unit appears to power on but all you get is a black screen? And you are SURE the TV is receiving a signal, like even though it is a black it still looks different then when powered off? Maybe when you switch on the console you notice a split second of static or something? Just trying to determine it IS actually powering on and sending a signal to TV.
What about SOUND? Anything at all.
Last shot, and it's a funny one, at least with my Intellivision II console this is a thing, obviously you are fully inserting the carts the correct way (not sure upside down is even possible) BUT ALSO if it's like mine, I actually find inserting them fully results in no image, in fact they seem to work best when mostly inserted like nearly all the way but not quite, so maybe try at slightly different levels and see if anything at all appears different. Maybe also, before cleaning all the carts go the direct route and try cleaning the console cart slot first? Blowing in of course may be just enough. Other then that and making sure it's powering on and everything including cables are properly connected I am not sure. I assume you have other RF consoles that display fine? Does the Intellivision output allow to select channel 3 or 4? That's all I got.
It's definitely sending a signal to the TV. When I press the reset button it goes different colors, similar to when I press reset on the 2600.
I can see one, two, or even half the carts just being too dirty to work, but every single one of 23 just seems *incredibly* unlikely.
But yeah, I've tried inserting carts at slight angles. Not fully inserted. Wiggled around while the console is on *and* off, and just nothing.
The cart slot has to be broken somehow.
I'm pretty annoyed because my old INTV just *worked*. At all times. I popped a game in, and it worked, immediately.
But that INTV was destroyed in the fire last year and I seem to have replaced it with a very nice-looking, complete-in-box paperweight that cost me over $40.
Famicom - It Finally Begins
in Nintendo
Posted
I got a Famicom with its original box and a Famicom Disk System back in late 2019. One of the first new items for my rebuilt collection after the fire.
Anyway, yeah, it is CRAZY small. I love the color scheme, though, and I think I prefer it over the White and Gray we got here with the NES.
As for Japan-exclusive games, I will suggest "Nuts & Milk," one of the first Hudson Soft releases for the system, "F1 Race," a Pole Position-like racer that strangely never came to America, and "Devil World," a title designed by Shigeru Miyamoto that DID get a European release, but still to this day has never been officially released in North America.
