  1. It's definitely sending a signal to the TV. When I press the reset button it goes different colors, similar to when I press reset on the 2600. I can see one, two, or even half the carts just being too dirty to work, but every single one of 23 just seems *incredibly* unlikely. But yeah, I've tried inserting carts at slight angles. Not fully inserted. Wiggled around while the console is on *and* off, and just nothing. The cart slot has to be broken somehow. I'm pretty annoyed because my old INTV just *worked*. At all times. I popped a game in, and it worked, immediately. But that INTV was destroyed in the fire last year and I seem to have replaced it with a very nice-looking, complete-in-box paperweight that cost me over $40.
  2. Well, the new RF cable arrived, and I tested it. I got the clearest, most static-free BLACK screen I've ever seen. I still could not get a picture from a single one of 23 carts. I'll get some rubbing alcohol when I'm next in town, but I'm really starting to think this thing is a lemon.
  3. Not a trade, but a purchase from @RickR. A couple replacement carts and one I've never owned before (Othello). These arrived four days ago, but I'm only just now getting around to share it.
  4. Almost five years of faithful service, but now the painted finish on the casing of my 3DS XL is starting to bubble up and flake off, apparently exacerbated by the humidity here.

I've decided to finally swap the old girl out for a newer refurbished model.

My beloved 3DS has had that for years. You can tell after a second of looking at it where my hands go. Some chips on it where I dropped it a couple of times. The B and X buttons need a little encouragement to work properly. The back plate is barely being held in place by two screws with chips in the plastic slowly closing in on them. The plastic nub that keeps the stylus from sliding out has been worn down after taking the stylus in and out hundreds if not thousands of times and is reinforced with a layer of masking tape. Every inch of that thing is covered in scratches like it was attacked by a cat.

I love my 3DS and wouldn't trade it for the world. My favorite game system of all time fluctuates between the SNES, GBA and New 3DS XL. I have so many fond memories of the thing.

Wow. You got me all nostalgic there for a second.

  5. Possibly? Seems unlikely, though. That thing is CLEAN, at least on the outside. I think it was barely ever used, as evidenced by still having the original box and everything.
  6. I did think maybe it the RF switch, so I bought a RF to coax adaptor cord off Ebay to see if that would work.
  7. So, I got a box of 11 INTV games in a lot off Ebay that arrived in the mail yesterday, bringing my collection total back up to 23 games. Five of the games had no label, so I pulled out my boxed INTV to check the mystery carts out. I only have an NES RF switch available currently, so I used that to connect the INTV to my HDTV. Anyway, long story short, not a single one of 23 game carts would display a picture. All I got was a very nice, clear black screen on channel 4, and nothing but static on channel 3. Is an NES RF switch just not compatible, or is it possible my INTV is busted?
  8. After nearly a decade, Nintendo has finally officially discontinued the 3DS.

Farewell, best handheld. You will be missed. So many memories.

It's not all bad news.  There are literally millions of consoles and games out there (both new and used) to buy and enjoy.

My favorite handheld is the good old DS-Lite, and I find games for that all the time.

I love the 3D effect on the New 3DS. It finally worked very well, and I always leave it on to the max setting.

  9. If I do have Chopper Command already, then I'm interested in Centipede instead.
  10. Will do. First I gotta check to make sure I don't already have Chopper Command, because I'm not sure anymore.
  11. Is Othello, Keystone Kapers, Chopper Command, and that Star Raiders with Touchpad still available?
  12. Seconding. Definitely get a 3DS. The system is on its way out, prices are dropping, games are plentiful, and this is probably the best time ever to start collecting for it. It's my favorite Nintendo handheld.
  13. We survived a hurricane yesterday. Winds up to 70MPH here.

Jeez! As if 2020 couldn't have gotten worse Hurricane Laura comes.

  14. @Justin The person who sent me the box of Atari games and the 2600 Jr. was @Scott Stilphen. He sent it back in December.
  15. I'll take a look at the thread I posted last year about the fire. It was one of the commenters there that sent the 2600 Jr. and games.
  16. Slightly clearer picture since the first one is a bit blurry and washed out.
  17. I got a more updated view to share. I finally got a new AV switcher, and a newer HDMI switcher, so now I've currently got 11 separate consoles all hooked up to the TV at once, something I've been wanting to do for years.
  18. Definitely get a Wii U. It's a genuinely great console.
  19. I had a bunch of Atari catalogues and manuals before the fire. All destroyed.
  20. Yes, I have. A member of this site (name escapes me at the moment) sent me a box with 40 or so 2600 games and a new 2600 Jr., too.
  21. This is my shelf. I've picked up a few import items this time around I never owned before.
  22. Yeah, 95% of my collection was destroyed September 23rd of last year. Only my Switch and 3DS libraries were saved because I was able to easily grab them in time. I've only replaced about 65% so far.
  23. Yeah, that's my second Wii U. The first was sadly destroyed in the fire last year.
  24. For clarification, this is what I had before:
  25. Been a long while since I last posted. Anyway, yesterday I finally got the chance to upgrade my set up yesterday. The three small cabinets at the bottom are currently holding my NES, N64, and Dreamcast.
