      Hey Lee!

My job hasn't been too busy right now, so I've been watching a lot of classic movies on Roku and riding my bike for exercise. I have a Game Boy project I've been working on, but I've taken a break for the last couple weeks. I really should get back to it while I have the time.

  2. I'm still here.

Good.  I hope you are doing well.

  3. Forgot to update that we moved into our new house about four weeks ago.

  4. Update: We've been in our new house for about three or four weeks now. It's a pretty nice place. I got a new game shelf set up in my room.
  5. Trying to replace my destroyed SNES Classic. Oh. My. God.

I REFUSE to pay over $150 dollars for something I only spent around $70 dollars on the first time. *Sigh*

This is the way, especially with Nintendo items sadly. I wouldn't either, of course I never bothered with one with all the emulation options, if I DID I would have modded it to load the extra ROMS etc. That's neither here nor there though.

Yeah, I picked up a separate lot of 10 Famicom games for it that haven't arrived yet. The picture on the listing shows two Dragon Quest games and what looks like Wizardry, among others.
  7. This may be my most boring birthday ever.

      Carpe diem, Lee.

      Happy Birthday to you.

I've had many of those! Happy Birthday Lee.

A little late but Happy late Birthday!  I missed this some how.

Grab a game you can enjoy and pop it in one of those machines you got.  Get out and enjoy yourself if nothing else.  Go watch a movie you've been wanting to see.  Find a place that might have an old pinball machine and try it out.  There's got to be something to do to break the boredom.

This is what it came with. Looks like the original adapter. I was reading online and it said that a regular Sega Genesis Model 1 power adapter can be used instead, without having to purchase a step-down transformer thingy, so that may be what I'll do instead, since I'm too hesitant to use this adapter.

A lot of that is really technical, and I'm not sure I understand it all.

This arrived in the mail today. I look forward to exploring the more unusual side of Nintendo once everything gets settled again. A question: Is American voltage too high for the Famicom? Will I burn it out if I plug it into any outlet?
  11. Since I've now got an extra $3k sitting in my bank account, since most necessities have been taken care of, I'm actually starting to look into maybe snagging a few rarer hardware pieces for my *New* collection.

I'm looking at either a Famicom Disk System or a Twin Famicom to start.

    Any suggestions from you guys?

Have you also thought about adding one of those new Sega Genesis classic consoles to your *NEW* collection?  If you have it I would.  I also hear now is the time to start collecting for the Wii U so you might jot that one down.

Yes, I already intend to replace my Wii U. I literally just got a Wii U at the end of March, and come September it's destroyed, forcing me to start all over again.

Sadly, I got talked into just getting a regular Disk System before I saw your replies here, so doesn't look like there will be a Twin Famicom in my future anytime soon.

  12. Well guys, I have some good news.

I was able to find a replacement for my Intellivision online for $40. It includes the original box, manual, and three games.

  13. I'd have to go with Haunted House for the 2600. They managed to get a lot of atmosphere out of 8 bits of data.
  14. Another update. Insurance got with Dad today. We're getting $70k for everything. Well, everything but my collection. Alas, it wasn't factored into the payout, so I'm on my own with rebuilding. However, the fine folks over at RFGeneration have announced that they're starting a drive to chip in and help out, and I feel so grateful.
  15. The shoutout means a lot, man. I do have some good news to share. We already have our new house lined up. Should only be a little while till we'll have our new place.
  16. Well, here's a list of my consoles. I won't ask for much, though. This is just what I owned. Atari 2600 (Light Sixer) Atari 2600 (4 Switch) Atari 2600 Jr. Bandai WonderSwan Color Mattel Children's Discovery System Mattel Intellivision Microsoft XBox Microsoft XBox 360 Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo 64 Nintendo Wii Nintendo Wii U Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP Nintendo New 3DS XL Nintendo Switch Sega Genesis Sega Dreamcast Sony Playstation Sony PSOne Sony Playstation 2 Sony Playstation 2 Slim Sony PSP
  17. Well, the insurance guy came back, but he didn't look at my list or anything. They just decided to lump all the contents together and pay out for everything, so I really don't know what that means with regards to rebuilding my collection.
  18. Luckily enough, I do already have a RFGeneration list, so I do know exactly what I had, and what boxes and manuals I had. I have since decided I will continue to collect. My first step will be heading to Gamestop to find out if their console insurance covers loss by fire. Hopefully I'll either be replacing my Wii U this weekend, or, at the very least, get money back for its loss. I'll put up a short list of my lost consoles here. I'm sorry to say, @RickR, that I found the 2600 Jr. you gifted me today, and it was, of course, destroyed.
  19. This is a pretty crappy week.

  20. I'm afraid, guys, that this'll probably be the end of my video game collecting. I can get new games and consoles, sure, but not a single one will recapture the stories and memories I had with the originals. They just can't. It was fun while it lasted.
  21. The aftermath. Two views of my bedroom. You can see the charred remains of my 2600 collection... All destroyed, as I feared. My coin collection survived, though, somehow.
  22. A lot of what I lost were gifts from you guys. That hurts the most.
