    Atari 2600+ Frequently Asked Questions
Will this play Atari game cartridges?
Absolutely! The 2600+ can play both Atari original 2600 and Atari 7800 cartridges, and cartridges from the Atari XP program.

How is the Atari 2600+ different from the original Atari 2600?
The Atari 2600+ is enhanced the 2600+ from the original in the following ways:
    - Plays both Atari 2600 and 7800 game cartridges
    - HDMI output makes it easy to connect
    - Widescreen mode
    - 80% of original size
    - Enlarged cartridge socket reduces sticking
    - Atari logo lights up when being played

How is the Atari 2600+ different from the Atari VCS?
The Atari 2600+ plays both Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges and is designed to look like the iconic 4-switch Atari 2600 model released in 1980. The Atari VCS is a modern console whose capabilities extend beyond just gaming. The VCS offers a Chrome browser, streaming services, productivity apps, and the ability to boot into a PC operating system of your choice, like Windows or Linux. Build your home gaming center with both consoles to enjoy the full range of Atari offerings.

Is the Atari 2600+ smaller than the original Atari 2600?
The original 2600 design was beautiful but came with a very large footprint. At 80% of original size, we believe the 2600+ is able to retain the iconic look of the original, while also making it easier to fit into modern living spaces.

Can I use the Atari CX40+ Joystick and CX30+ paddle controllers with the original Atari 2600 or 7800?
Yes, the CX40+ Joystick and CX30+ Paddle Controllers have DB9 connectors and are compatible with original Atari hardware.

Does the Atari 2600+ use emulation software to play game cartridges?
Yes, the Atari 2600+ uses emulation technology to play game cartridges. View the full list of compatible games below:

OMG have you been watching prices on every retro console?
Time to invent a time machine and go back to the time. Back when people were complaining about a $30 price being too high for a broken Vectrex. Or any heavy sixer Atari 2600. Or a Virtual Boy.
Back i those times when you were telling yourself it is time to buy one.
Now try and look ahead another 10 years when every barely running, wonky controller, Vectrex will have some kind of grading applied to it.
A time when you're making another post on some future social site about the same topic.

While I like the positive attitude regarding the latest event, I cannot follow here. Besides words, Atari has not proven that it values the community. Besides paying money for it.
And even lately has done numerous law actions against us. The store purge is only one of them. Watch the latest stream of ZPH when James gets emotional regarding Mr Jump and Run.
That's the moment he realizes (again?) that an era has ended. And that's how I see it too.

Here's the big issue with the most recent announcement: price.
Missile Command is dirt common. It's a great game but I'm willing to bet most of us have several copies. It's a hard proposition at $100.
Adventure is a bit less common and prices have spiked thanks to Ready Player One and now Stranger Things. It's an easier sell given where the market is.
    Current pricecharting for reference.
The packages do look very nice! Who doesn't love gatefold boxes, enamel pins, patches and a light up cart?

I bought the game new, late in the existence of it..... probably 1987. So I had the game manuals, but I never knew til now what the building icon did AND that you could eat the Reese's Pieces for more points! That changes the game for me!!! That makes sense now!
    Thanks!
