  1. Some video from the Atari booth at PAX 2023 showing upcoming titles running on the VCS.

  2. QOMP 2 announced for the VCS! Atari is really keeping the content coming!

  3. Dynablaster announced for the VCS! How cool is it that this once planned Amico title can now be enjoyed on a retro modern console that actually exists?!

  4. Another XP unboxing. This time it's Crystal Castles!

THANK YOU for this!🏆  One of my favorite Atari games of all time, from any system. Tragic we never got Crystal Castles on Atari 7800. Maybe there's still time?

Do we know if Atari plans on a standard re-release of Crystal Castles similar to Berzerk?

Thanks for watching! Yeah, Crystal Castles is one of my favorites too.

I haven't heard anything about 7800 releases. It's speculated that Crystal Castles 7800 was in development and even had a number (CX-7817). It would be wonderful if a ROM or source code were found and released as with Saboteur and Aquaventure.  That or Sky Fox!

  5. An excerpt from the Yars' Revenge story album.  Epic?

Love it.  I've been grooving along with that Casio beat all day long.

I LOVE these records that expanded on the World of Atari. It really shows that these games were so early that we had to use our imaginations to visualize what was happening in the game. We had to imagine we were in a space ship blasting Asteroids, or fighting the evil Qotile. Just awesome :yars_revenge:

  6. Chilling in the top spot of the Quantum Recharged leaderboards.

It has the vibe of the Millennium Falcon flying in to destroy the second Death Star in "Return of the Jedi"

  8. Paul Reubens is dead at 70. Apparently, he's privately battled cancer for the past several years. Pee Wee Herman meant the world to me as a little boy. Sad to hear.

    1. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

Sad to hear that.  Regardless of reasons why some people disliked him he was a unique entertainer and created some of the most annoying catch phrases of all-time.  He was easy to spot in film and sitcoms when he made cameo appearances.  I had a cousin who grew up watching his Playhouse show.

It's sad to hear he battled cancer.  He was a master of his craft.  He did what no one else did and in some ways kept a bit of nostalgia from past actors in his character. I mean, A suit and tie.  That was something left in the past unless you was a game show host.

R.I.P. Pee Wee.  You entertained us well.

  9. I feel a summer cold coming on. 🤧

  10. The Lower Decks crossover episode of SNW, called Those Old Scientists (TOS) is AMAZING. I gave my first straight up belly laugh in I don't know how long.

    That's all.

I think it's time to subscribe to paramount+ again.  Thanks for this reminder!

We are on Disney+ now.  We just finished "Mandolorian" season 3 and just started "Andor".

  11. I was so excited to get this and then I saw the condition of the slip cover.

  13. A newly released study by the Video Game History Foundation show that only 13 percent of classic games from 4 decades are available commercially due to a variety of issues. It's a fascinating read.

  14. ICYMI: Polymega and Atari are collaborating on a 2600/7800 module that will be compatible with the VCS. They are also bringing the full functionality of Polymega to the VCS.

    Discuss in ClubVCS!

It's great to see that Atari seems to be thriving and is becoming a viable company unlike the Amico people.

  15. Did you see the sweet prize that we're giving away for this series of the Club VCS Recharged Squad Challenge?  It might seem silly, but the Atari Speaker Hats are surprisingly functional! 😉

A winner will be announced between now and mid-August! Series Four kicks off tomorrow and runs through December 31st!

  16. Some news coming out of this weekend's BIG Festival in Brazil: Atari to demo two previously announced titles...

A new Haunted House and Quantum Recharged!

Quantum: Recharged should be amazing if its anything like the arcade. I love Atari's willingness to mine deep cuts for the Recharged series.

Looking forward to a new Haunted House too!  I wonder if it will be an expansion on Haunted Houses from Atari50 or a whole new game?

  17. PSA: AtariAge "last chance" sale. Get 'em while you can.

I’m a bit sad to see this happen. Seeing talented people attempting to duplicate arcade classics on the venerable 2600 was always a fun watch and play. The activity always brought a lot of buzz to the community and 2600 platform. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

I hope we will see more original works as a result of this.

I always said making clones or ports of unlicensed games is like playing Russian Roulette. Many copyright holders may not seem to care about games we make on these systems, but eventually, one may get copied, and the copyright owner complains. We know Nintendo is protective of their Mario franchise, and I stay cleared of that. I always tell people if you figure out the programming to do the mechanics of something like Super Mario Land/World/ etc on your system. Why not just replace graphics, sounds, sprites, music with your own designs. Make new levels with things placed in different areas of the screen. Now you made your own original game that you own the intellectual property.
Why don't those talented people start creating original stuff that is just as exiting to play?
I know I am not innocent with making clones. I made ported Tempest and Venture to Atari 8-bit only because I was working with someone who really wanted those games ported. When I started making these projects, I expressed my concerns with him about copyright. I had many problems working with him behind the scenes, and was glad when his partnership with myself and Video61 was terminated. I did what I mentioned here, took what I learned, and starting making original stuff.

  18. Apparently, John Hancock made some games that will be published to the VCS!

SWEET!  Although I was going to buy the real deals from him next time I saw him.  I mean, I still will. 🙂

  19. Can you beat Nolan?!

This is kinda cool. The Breakout game isn't half bad. The Centipede game is kinda goofy.
