  1. I thought ALL first-party Intellivision games released by Mattel were created by The Blue Sky Rangers. Blue Sky Rangers just = Mattel's dev team. Right?
  2. I'm going to sit this one out folks.
  3. We had Zayre which I think became Ames around 1990. They had "departments" and a nice area for video games, it was mostly NES at the time. It was a square glass jewelry counter with a sales clerk behind it, and TVs up in the center behind the clerk. That's where I bought Excitebike.
  4. Quarterworld looks like the place to go in Portland. How does it compare to other arcades in the area?
  5. The game looks incredible. Thanks for clearing that up Petey. I did some research and came into the thread to ask if Tempest Elite requires VBXE and you had already posted the answers I was looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o51S_ylNP4A
  6. How on earth are you making that earth? Are you throwing the system into an alternate mode? Your earth looks like it's being generated by a 16-bit graphics engine. I've never seen anything like that on an Atari 8-Bit. Is this on a cartridge? Can you explain a bit about what is going on here (with the earth during end credits) and how this is possible on an Atari 8-Bit?
  7. Here is a vintage Caldor newspaper ad for Atari and ColecoVision games. This ran in the Poughkeepsie Journal on Friday, March 11, 1983. I think it's interesting that they're advertising Donkey Kong for Atari 2600 in the ColecoVision section. It was a Coleco product, but better suited in the Atari section, not mixed in with ColecoVision games. That seems like it would be confusing to some. My first thought was "Why would they be advertising Donkey Kong on its own if it came with every ColecoVision sold?" Then I saw it was for the 2600. Also notice that by March, 1983 E.T. was already marked down to $14.76. E.T. had retailed for around $40 during the 1982 Christmas shopping season only a few months earlier. That's quite a price drop! Caldor was a discount retailer that was popular in the North East during the 1970s and 1980s. Caldor could best be explained as K-Mart dressed up to look like JCPenny. The interior of each Caldor store was designed to look more like a department store than a discounter, and many were even designed by the same firms used by more up-scale retail environments. They featured wide aisles, bright lighting, and large, colorful display treatment, and were typically remodeled every 6 years. They were best recognized for "The Caldor Rainbow" with a mix of brown, yellow, and orange. Caldor struggled to compete against Wal-Mart and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in 1999. Here are some vintage pictures of Caldor:
  8. Welcome to the forums nolram! Your collection is one heck of a good start!
  9. I called and got an answering service: "What's up? You just reached Brent's World Famous Chili Busters! I cannot come to the phone right now, but in the meantime check out Brent Weinbach's new standup comedy special Appealing to the Mainstream on Seeso... Check that shit out and call me back." Suddenly I have a craving for chili dogs
  10. Welcome to Atari I/O Ryan! Chuck E. Cheese is in our DNA here
  11. Oh my goodness. This video is so good I have to take a bottom-half shower every time I watch it.
  12. I like the quality here! That poster and the shrink wrapped pin are a nice touch.
  13. Looks like a nice game. Here are some positive thoughts running through my head right now: - I like that it's a 16k game. Graphics are simple but 16k means it will play on all Atari 8-Bit computers - This should also be easy to port to the 5200. I say DO IT!! - 4 Player mode to me is what makes this stand out from other Surround games and why I'd buy it - Your sound effects are nice

  20. What kind of feedback are you looking for on this? The game looks like a superb mashup of Breakout and Pinball! I'd love to see a 5200 version of it. If there were to be a 7800 version made I would like to see improved graphics on par with what the 7800 is capable of. Not to sound discouraging of anyones efforts but there have been too many 7800 homebrews that look more at home on the 2600 or 5200 and would be sub-par when compared to NES titles. Tile Smashers would be a great chance for an NES quality 7800 homebrew.
