  1. Selling off my game collection rarely has gotten me anything. Seems like you have to have a popular item at the right time. ..or be Jaguar related. Had to sell my Skunkboard to make rent once. 😕
  2. I guess it depends on your scenario. My first thought was a small solar panel kit that charges up batteries. The second thought was that the Lynx eats batteries. So, would probably emulate the Lynx on something more versatile like the Dingoo 320 or PSP - both of which have TV out for projector use.
  3. I didn't understand the nomination process this year. That factored in to my Atari 2600 titles not getting voted on. A couple might have gotten disqualified due to technicalities. I am grumpy about it due to my own failings and lack of traction in the scene. But, feelings pass. Actions last.
  4. I subscribed to your channel so I can catch yer videos. Hopefully I can provide some useful input and see if you're interested in checking out any new games I cook up. Usually I collaborate with John Hancock on games. He gives me a theme to go for and I whittle it down into something that I can actually program 🙂 He brings carts to expos and charities. I self publish doing as much production myself as possible. These last three releases are unusual in that he bought the publishing rights outright. So, that's why you see them on multiple platforms (physical cart, digital download and VCS).
  5. I tried to leave this comment on YouTube but it mysteriously went bye bye. So, i'll post it here 🙂 Hey there! I’m Gemintronic the developer of those two games. Thought they were destined to be cart only so I was surprised when I discovered they were on the VCS storefront! Hopefully more actual 2600 games get the same treatment. All the code, graphics and sound were done my me. Some screens in the hardest difficulty of Retro Game Quest are procedurally laid out. However, all the room layouts in C@tacombs of Chaos are procedurally generated. A little ashamed that some aspects of our games require reading the manual. Pick up and play is a hallmark of pre-Nintendo gaming. In Retro Game Quest when the timer turns purple you can press FIRE to fly through walls. Also, the red bar at the lower left hand side in C@tacombs is your life. If you pick up a potion you may press FIRE heal your HP. I reached out on Facebork if you have more questions 🙂
  6. Thank you, Sir! That means something from a connoisseur of retro gaming like yourself 🙂 I think 8 Bit Milli did good with his first published 2600 title. Usually he does Coleco stuff. Got nothing but positive feedback on the game itself. Though, since Zero Page homebrew reads the manual as they play, there was some anxiousness on my part during their stream 🙂
  7. Looks like 8 Bit Milli Games is now shipping Dragon Chalice for the Atari 2600. https://8bitmilligames.com/dragon-chalice.html Demo ROM here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/351890-dragon-chalice-2600-8-bit-milli-release/ Zero Page Homebrew first play video here:
  8. Can now win and lose at Dragon Chalice for the Atari 2600. 256 Novice (B) and 256 Expert (A) worlds with 4 8x8 screen kingdoms each.
  9. Showing off spike traps in Dragon Chalice for the Atari 2600. They're the first thangs that can end your game! Fear them!!
  10. Can't take credit for that one. Some major homebrew developers got excited to formalize the concept and I rolled with it. Also, I've found some YouTubers forget that their difficulty switches are set to PRO and get frustrated during a review 😞 So, now they HAVE to intentionally joystick it into hard mode!
  11. Currently in development! Dragon Chalice is a top down adventure. Planned features include: * 1 or 2 player simultaneous (co-op) * Over 256+ screens covering 4 kingdoms * 3 game modes: hand designed easy, normal and 254 possible procedural worlds * Limited edition worlds in addition to the above mentioned game layouts * Password saving/loading * NTSC and PAL60 support * %100 percent Couch Compliant (Game can be reset or password saved/loaded from joystick) * 8 items, 3 enemies and 1 annoying thief! * Levers, spikes, one-way traps and illusory rooms * Custom cart design
  12. For gaming a 7800. Have a light sizer and Jr for development and testing. Pretty much because the Seagull 78 adapter is plugged in there. Also, the option to play 7800 games is nice.
  13. For the heck of it made an homage to Birthday Mania. Good for short runs as it gets unfair fast. Happy Birthday! A game by Gemintronic, LLC Do not resell What better way to celebrate than snuffing out candles with a puff or even a hat! The title screen displays a message and shows the high score. Press FIRE to continue. Press FIRE to launch a puff into candles for 10 points Use LEFT or RIGHT on your joystick to maneuver your hat into candles for 8 points Press RESET to clear your score and return to the title Setting either difficulty switch to EXPERT (A) reduces your time and increases candle drop rate Your score is displayed bottom center on screen Each candle that drops off screen deducts time (represented top right from score) Your game is over once the time is 0. You can review your high score or press FIRE to try again. * Not every candle can be saved due to reach or bad luck * When catching with your hat any candles on the same row have a chance not not deduct time happybatariio.bin
  14. CORGS was a blast! Though my healing ankle and the heat was a challenge. Sold better than last year but there are still some available on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/shop/Gemintronic
  15. The 2nd ever homebrew Atari 2600 double ender Game Panic 3 / BLT Blast will be released at CORGS 2022 this year! https://www.corgscon.com/ BLT Blast is a small shooter that increases risk by making you taller as the bonus goes up. Game Panic 3 is a Game & Watch / LCD game-esque title that has you collecting carts through various floors For $55 you get a developer autographed two page manual, sticker and game case with custom support insert. BLT Blast ROM is here: https://theloon.itch.io/blt-blast ZeroPage Homebrew showcased Game Panic 3 here:
  16. So, got some feedback in the form of a ZeroPage Homebrew showcase. I think they got accustomed to the two difficulty levels. No new bugs during their session. With that and internal testing this'll be the version available at the CORGs expo coming up.
  17. Sounds like the Chameleon 64. You can use that as a upgrade to a real C64 or a C64 clone by itself. How are you dealing with the shortages going on?
  18. Hey fellas! Wondering what you thought of Game Panic 3. Instructions are below! DEMO HERE: gp3earlydemo.bin Game Panic 3 is a "Game & Watch" inspired sequel to Game Panic. If you wanna try the early demo ROM please read the instructions below. My games can be confusing and weird GAMEPLAY A new batch of games arrived at Retro Tower only to be incorrectly delivered to random floors! Corral the carts whilst avoiding invaders and dodging death. When enemies warp in they pause and can be safely avoided. Crouch to avoid flying foes. Grab Guess Boxes to meet your quota too (always a surprise inside!). Elevators open and close intermittently. A clever retro enthusiast can climb up ladders and even vines when needed. Some ladders are one way. When enough carts/guess boxes are collected the player is placed far left or right on the elevator and moved to a new set of 5 floors. Contact with invaders, roving skulls or running out of time loses a life. Run out of lives and it’s game over. SCREEN LAYOUT Guide your player through 5 floors of fun top center. Lives are displayed as carts bottom left. The count down bar is located bottom right. Current score is centered below the play area. When all lives are lost the current score is displayed in blue while the high score color cycles. GAME CONTROLS Continue by pressing FIRE at title or game over Move horizontally via LEFT and RIGHT Move vertically on elevators and climbable surfaces via UP and DOWN Duck for cover on floors via DOWN. Does not work on climbable surfaces Reboot clearing score using the RESET button A or B switch to PRO sets the quota of carts from 3 (easy) to 6 (hard) SCORING 50 points per cart collected 10-100 points randomly from guess boxes HELPFUL HINTS * You skip every other space compared to enemies. This allows you to bypass them with timing. * Elevators are safe but can push you out. * When enemies warp in they are grey and harmless. Use this time to position yourself. * If a climbable surface does not extend out of the top of the floor then you cannot climb back down it. * Avoid long hallways with no vertical egress as the elevators can close while enemies encroach. * When clearing a level watch the bottom far left and right sides as you may start at either end. * Crouching can avoid flying invaders but watch out for their intermittent lightning strikes. * Cheat warp into next level in early demo via FIRE EARLY DEMO (Not feature complete or bug free)
  19. Good Deal Games made a new un-numbered run of War in the Machine. Technically version 1.1 New is an alternate control mode where UP and DOWN control your base instead of A and B. Your mini ship projectiles also move with the d-pad so maybe a little gotcha there. Over the years I've noticed some clone systems and versions of the Mega SG firmware speed up the music. I've communicated with the Mega SG core developer about this. Game is the same: move your base vertically to avoid enemies. Kill a quota of randomized baddies to challenge a randomized boss. Defeat the boss to start a new wave with more demanding quotas and speed. Use chromadepth 3D glasses for depth! Red hues appear closer and blue farther away.
  20. Was not digging the broken Picard theme of last season. Even regurgitating Q and time travel episodes is better than breaking main characters.
  21. I've always wanted an adapter that would take USB joysticks and connect them to classic consoles. Making niche console joystick to niche different console adapters seems like a way to guarantee low reach. There are all sorts of USB joysticks including clones of classic console controllers and myriad options for preferred buttons, grip and features. Strongly suspect that these bluetooth to classic console adapters will be the closest thing to my ideal soon.
  22. It's never been a problem for BASIC users. I've always heard criticism from C and assembly oriented programmers. I've tried switching to user routines and gosubs but the additional CPU overhead always gets me in trouble. UPDATE: I'm not picking on anyone who comes from a lower level language background. Just my own personal impressions over the years.
  23. I keep hearing that these games have 1000+ units produced. That'll be hard to sell through plus turn off those who are interested in rarity. Playing back seat driver I'd consider buying into flashable boards and just-in-time/on demand friendly packaging and manuals. Keep it inexpensive for everyone involved and publish exactly what is needed as it is needed for as long as possible.
  24. Winter Games title screen. Remember sitting at the intro just for that. But, it was more me being impressed it had recognizable music in the first place. 😛
