  1. Hi Justin,

Lance is where the SMS I have came from.  He found it looking for something else.  I'm glad i got it.  Hopefully he has more TG-16s.  The value of those things have increased, though.  I never thought that machine to be worth much.  Blame Keith Courage for that...that game didn't leave a strong impression for the system.  It was the only game I had.

Cool! I really liked TurboGrafx-16, even when it was new. I agree Keith Courage wasn't a strong pack-in game. They should've launched with Bonk's Adventure, Blazing Lazers or something else. They're great systems to have now though.

  2. RIP Landon Montgomery (Gearbox Co-Founder).  Thank you for the games you helped bring to this world.

  3. @HDN I'm surprised a company hasn't started making CRT TVs again just to sell to retro gamers.

Also a small business to consider would be someone refurbishing Sony Trinitrons from the 1990s, they are terrific for playing classic games. I'm still on my original from 1998 📺

Probably too niche to keep producing them. I like @Justin's idea of refurbishing them however.

  4. Currently trying Solar Star for the first time on an XEGS.

Cool! How do you like it?

I actually like it!  Easily a top fave.  My only gripe about it is it not a forgiving game and takes a bit of getting use to.  But I love the 3D grid design of the levels.  Makes me feel like I'm inside TRON.

  5. Dragging out the 5200 for some classic game play.

It would be cool to share some pictures of you and your family having a great time playing the Atari 5200! Maybe for #AtariDay?

I’m the only family member who plays Atari.  Sadly.

  7. Hi Peter,

I understand you have a question about the 7800 Venture game?  What question did you have?

  8. I like the clubs. I think it would be cool to see a club for the A8 and ST computers.  Clubs are hard to find for those these days. Maybe Atari IO could resurrect a computer club by starting its own.

@Atari 5200 Guy I've thought about that but am looking to avoid generic Clubs for Forums we already have created. For example, I'd be open to an Atari Computer Club, but we already have Atari Computer Forums that we want people posting in, and want to generate activity in those. The Clubs will mainly be for extracurricular "off-topic" interests and for segments we don't yet have established Forums for, like the new VCS. I've been wanting to create a Neo Geo Club and a Pinball Club, but those would just be duplicates of the forums we've already created. I've also considered an Atari I/O Movie Club, but again we already have TV & Movie forums. So whatever Club were to be created and approved would need to have a unique, specific twist, and not be something that should simply be a topic in another Forum.

On the other hand, I think it would be a terrific idea for there to be a Video 61 Club. One that was open to the public to come visit for the latest updates on new Video 61 games, short messages from Lance, and there could be "Patches" that could be awarded for High Scores on Video 61 games, even if those "Patches" only existed as Badges in the Forums. I think it would be nice for Lance to have some patches, stickers, posters, or cards printed up that could be mailed to somebody with a new high score, just like the Activision Club used to do.

I'm considering other areas of interests for Clubs right now including an Atari I/O Fitness Club, a Bitcoin Club, a Food Club (cooking at home and dining out) and other interesting ideas. It will depend on the demand of the Forums and also on not duplicating existing areas of the Forums.

I like that video 61 idea. The patches would be a game seller for sure.  And Lance would be the perfect person to do something like that. I don't know if financially he could do it since he has already sunk a lot of money in the 7800 boards.  I'm all for it.

  9. I like the new styling and some features.  I would suggest a different font style for member's profile page for their username.  It's too thin.  I like the fact I can add a custom background though.  So far so good.

  10. I will miss Tim Conway.  I grew up watching him.  Carol was right calling him one in a million.  Those that don't know of his talents might want to check him out any way you can.  He was unique and gifted.  May he rest in peace and heart felt sympathy to his loved ones.

  11. Our local Walmart got in a D&D Starter Set and a box of dice each having 3 sets of dice in them.  A new D&D!!  But I've never played the game before.  Not the board game anyway.

Just woke up to this, sad, but he did announce back in March 2019 he was suffering stage 4 pancreatic cancer, that and he was 80 when he passed so not unexpected. RIP a great Canadian! 😢

At least he is out of his misery now. That must have been a rough way to go.

He fought a good fight. RIP Alex Trebek

  13. RIP Kenny.  Thank you for the music.

I was so sad to see he passed away! Just in the past year have I really grown to appreciate his music. I also associated him with Atari. The first night I came home from Kay-Bee Toys in 1993 as a classic gamer, we got Kenny Rogers Roasters and had a picnic on the back deck of our new house that we hadn't yet closed on. Kenny Rogers Roasters was a new competitor to Kentucky Fried Chicken that was pretty popular in my area in the early-mid '90s, there was even a Seinfeld episode about it. Unfortunately Kenny Rogers Roasters didn't last. That day is such a good memory though. My first new Atari games and my first Kenny Rogers Roasters. Funny that when I was young I used to associate him as much with chicken as with music. I wrote a little bit about that day here:

I have two from him...Daytime Friends and this one:

  14. Sending lots of Sympathy to her majesty's family.  She felt like everyone's queen, not just UK.  I know I would have been honored to have been able to meet her just once.  May she rest in peace.  She left behind a very long and respectable legacy.

  15. Thanks to Corona I finally have time to sit down and play Metroid Other M.  And I finally made it past the first small boss which I couldn't figure out before.  Samus is as awesome as ever...I'll get back to you guys once I figure out the rest of the game LOL.

  16. Well, after a day of owning GT2, I've managed to complete both Sunday and Clubman Cup races.  And my Skyline has obtained a few more upgrades. Still playing hard at this game.

  17. Wondering if I did something wrong on here.🤔  I posted something only for it to be hidden and needing moderator approval.  I'm confused.

Quite a voice even if one didn't care for his music. His Freddy Mercury tribute concert performance was second to none. RIP

His music was good. Definitely original and with heart...something often missing from today's music.
