Why so much hate for Battlemorph? It's one of my favorites and a fantastic game, IMO. But you do need to know what you are doing...obviously you finished it BTB, as you showed the end in that Jag Bar episode, but I still just don't get why so many reviewers on youtube hate it so much. It really boggles my mind. Now CF I totally get.

Yes its all to easy to have a youtube show - play a game and make snarky remarks… Im trying to do something a little different.  Yes we will come across some bad games, along with the really good ones, but its really a platform for others to play the Jag for the first time.  All of these titles we play are mine, I really supported the system in its life time, I really wanted to see Atari succeed.

One of the thing I have to tell the guests before we start shooting is you can't compare these games with the games of today, thats just too easy.  I tell them the year of the game and other games that would have been out at that time "so put yourself back in that mind set".  I loved AVP, that was the reason I got the system, It looked amazing for the time, can't wait to cover that game.

While the Lynx has a bloody great list of games from beginning to end, my favorites for it are some of the "3D" games like  Warbirds, Road Riot 4WD, S.T.U.N Runner, Checkered Flag, Blue Lighting,  Steel Talons,  Battlezone 2000(especially the TRUE hidden easter-egg version) ,Battlewheels, Alien vs, Predator, Alpine Games, Hyperdrome, Hydra, and Songbird's Cybervirus, Remnant and the 2D overhead racer Championship Rally.

Probably because I didn't get a Lynx until after I had a Jaguar, and everyone, including me, wanted 3D at that time...in more recent years I have started enjoying a lot more of it's 2D library. But I gave my Lynx to my nephew with all my 30-40 games and the big softcase. I now have a Lynx 2 with a few games, but it's not working.

Everyone knows about Songbird Productions Lynx (and ahem, Jaguar) releases, right? And some of those titles were only prototypes (but finished) until B&C computervisions published their "chip on a PCB" versions.

No other portable could dream of handling games like these until at least the Gameboy Advance, if not even later portables. Lynx was the most powerful portable system for a decade or more.

I'm both happy and sad that Zaku sold out. Happy that people love it, sad that more people won't be able to get their hands on it. Here are two great videos that demonstrate what a great game Zaku is:

Interesting article Zontar, thanks for sharing! All these years later the Lynx is still my favorite handheld for all the right reasons.

The TurboGrafix16 is a system I always meant to get, but never did. I actually had a chance to get EVERTHING, including all the peripherals back in '96/97 at a swap meet in Orange county when I lived in SoCal, for a pittance, but I turned it down because I was collecting other systems actively at the time. Man was that a stupid move on my part, though i don't know if it worked or not, one reason I turned it down too.

I do plan on getting one someday soon. Being such a fan of underrated and failed systems that I am, I'm sure I'll love it.

Maybe I'll get lucky and win it in the trivia, I'm usually pretty good at trivia...on most topics at least. So are announcements made of these events outside of their own sub-forums? I often get busy or forget areas and overlook things. I've been scouring Atari i/o lately, but that's not always the case for me.

I thought it was hilarious too! It's one of my favorite games for the TurboGrafx-16. What's funnier though is the Japanese version of the game, Kato-chan and Ken-chan for PC Engine. Kato-chan and Ken-chan was a popular comedy show in Japan at the time, and a lot of the humor was lost in translation especially because American audiences didn't know the show. Plus, a lot of the humor in Kato and Ken got censored out of J.J. and Jeff, they would urinate and throw crap on people and stuff, there was a lot of "toilet humor" in the Japanese game that didn't make it into the American game

Though  never owned one back in the day a friend and I rented it from the local video store. With Keith Courage and I cannot recall what else but I DO definitely remember being impressed with the colors, speed and big sprites! Otherwise I did not know ANYBODY who actually owned one and though I thought it was awesome I did not have access to much back then so I think getting one for myself just seemed too scary because there just did not seem to be any support here in Canada. If only I knew than what I know now about how it would be great for collectors purposes as well as awesome games.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a reasonably priced TurboGrafx 16, but so far, it's eluded me.  They are pretty hard to find.

I have a turbo grafx-16. I love it. It's a weird system. I like that it's weird! In some ways its amazing and in other ways it doesn't make sense. When it came out in the USA it was such an obvious step forward from the NES. Yet it doesn't make sense to me that they made it so big when the PC Engine was so tiny. How cool! It doesn't make sense to me that for all of the great games they had in Japan, they didn't translate well into games for the USA. Kato and Ken is a good example. Then the Genesis happened. The turbo grafx, the duo, and the express were all awesome. I wish I had a larger collection.

I agree with that. I guess I was a tiny bit more annoyed than I should be, due to my experiences with almost all Youtube reviews of BM done by people who don't have a clue how the game is played and clearly never even try to read the manuals to find out or anything. It's just gotten bad press by bad reviewers too many times, IMO. I would not defend Cybermorph nearly as staunchly, even in '93 it wasn't a "killer app" even though it is fun. Battlemorph is clearly leagues better. Battlemorph would have been a "killer app" if released in '93 or '94, but by '95, while definitely a great game, it wasn't what could be considered a "killer app" when looking at the competition, but only to fans of the Jaguar; it was what I'd hoped for from Cybermorph early on, then finally got late in the Jag's life, but when it was all but too late for the Jag. I feel the same about Blue Lightning as I do about Cybermorph as a pack-in...it should have been Battlemorph or Iron Soldier 2.

Thanks for clearing that up. I still think people that think Starfox is better than Battlemorph are delusional though...maybe Starfox 64.

To be fair Battlemorph is a pretty solid game.  Shane really didn't like it, but he's a die hard Star Fox fan and was comparing it to that experience.  Each guest I have to explain that it's not fair to judge these games with where we are today, rather think about the time period and what was going on back then.  Now Ive never played Cybermorph, so I really can't compare BM to CM, but I do like Battle and would say its a top CD game for me.

Even Amiga was from the beginning a computer that Commodore advertised as a all-purpose business machine, but soon Amiga became something else as we all know. In fact, the only computer that actually kept the serious business side and at the same time were a demo and games computer, was Atari ST.

If we take a look at Atari ST in the whole, it was a very competent allround computer for it's time that was supposed to rival MAC. ST was about "Power without the price" and what you got was a computer that could handle a high resolution display, in fact Atari ST hooked up to the SM 124 monochrome monitor was even better then the MAC display itself. Yet you could switch to a colour display any time and play games.

To understand how good Atari ST really was...

ST is still the tightest midi computer ever built, no modern PC or MAC even comes close to the performance of Atari ST.

Atari ST is definitely under appreciated! It had a lot of Mac features for a fraction of the price. That's why they called it a Jackintosh!

I have been Atari ST owner for many years, i have owned Amiga too. Many people seems to have missunderstand what Atari ST was about.

I have seen so many clips on YouTube or threads in forums where people compare Amiga to Atari ST. Then they say, look, Amiga has better graphics, Amiga has better sound. Those people don't seems to have understand what Atari ST was about.

From the beginning Atari ST was built to battle MAC as a "serious computer", that's why ST used a similar GUI (GEM), so similar that Apple actually sued Atari for using it. ST also used a monochrome monitor for high resolution (no scanlines) and 70 Hz refresh rate that made Atari ST perfect for serious use. Besides that ST contained everything in ROM. Just boot the computer and everything is ready to run.

For gaming ST was considerably more limited then Amiga. While ST just used a simple frame buffer and software generated sprites Amiga contained Jay Miner's custom chips. The only area ST could battle Amiga in gaming was in pure vector games where ST had a bit faster processor, else Amiga was THE computer for gaming.

MAC was the computer for serious use while Amiga was the computer for games, graphics and demos while Atari ST was something in between. The serious computer that could be used for playing games as well. Not to say that demos and games couldn't be good on ST too off course but when Amiga capabilities was used to the full, ST didn't stand a chance.

So, when people just compare the computers for graphics and sound, it isn't a fair comparison because ST was the allround computer made to battle MAC from the beginning.

Many people who bought Atari ST was kind of surprised, including me. Atari was supposed to be about gaming, but not this time. In fact Amiga was way more similar to Atari 8bit then ST ever was thanks to one person, Jay Miner.

This is Atari ST when showing it's real strength. In this comparison, Amiga don't stand a chance.
