Nintendo has said they are gonna release more NES classics this summer (2018), but ill believe it when i see it

I acquired one a month or so ago from a work mate and I really like it. I find the RF to be funny in these units. It's either terrible or perfect. Luckily my latest one falls into the latter category.

I've been back and forth on whether to make an actual video but I may just leave it be and post it here - I'm quitting youtube for good. I haven't completely lost my passion for retro gaming but I've lost my passion for collecting. I'd sold so much in the last few months you could barely call it a collection. I'm only keeping what I enjoy playing and don't plan on buying more than the occasional homebrew. I'm down to 42 unique 2600 games from over 300 a few years ago. I've sold many of my extra 2600 4 switch models. I've sold all my SNES and Genesis consoles. I'm toying with the idea of dropping the 800XL/XEGS collection and just keeping my 2600/7800/NES collections as small as they are. Last year my entire Tandy Coco, CV, C64, TG-16 collections among others have been completely sold. It's not even a game room anymore. On the plus side, the money is good to have

As such there's nothing to make videos about and my desire has been waning in the last couple of years. I almost force myself to make them anymore and I felt more obligation than joy when making my last few.

This is not a "woe is me" kind of post but I think some who've followed me over the years, and I can say have become my online friends like many of you here, do deserve some kind of explanation for my absence. I know it bothers me when someone I've followed for years suddenly drops off the face of the earth. Times change, people change and I'm getting to the age where, for me, it's time to let most of this stuff go and move on to other things. Thankfully we still have great people like NoSwearGamer and ArcadeUSA (who I still watch religiously) who are exceeding anything I've ever done both in quantity and quality.

I'll still be around lurking and watching as I do still love to play. I will still be around, and all the videos I've made will remain up, but it's time for the Atarileaf channel to ride into the sunset. Thanks for all your support over the years and I'll leave you with a quote I have in my game room that always rings true to me:

Always liked Atarileaf vids, he has been a inspiration for me    And Justin, I really like the Atari.IO site, it seems to be much friendlier over here    I need a good site promotion animation vid I can put in my projects to help promote it more, especially if I am doing a Atari vid.

I totally understand too Atarileaf.  I've been downsizing my collection too (not to the extent you have....yet).

I do hope you come back here often to try out the games on the High Score Squad.  Those can be done via emulation, and it's really fun to play the game with the other users here to get tips and such.  It feels really good to me to really focus and play the games instead of being out on the hunt for more stuff to buy.  I hope you'll give it a shot.

Willie -- your videos are truly great.  Don't you go downsizing now!

    BIG CHANGES COMING
    TO ATARI I/O FORUMS!

Here's a SNEAK PEEK at What's Coming. Click Above Video To Watch!

We're upgrading to a new version of the software that powers the forums. Atari I/O Forums will run on the latest incarnation of the industry-leading community forum software, powering thousands of message boards online. This is a complete redesign from the ground up, and will include new features not yet found in Atari forums online.

This is a very big deal, this will affect everybody in the forums.

    WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:

This is a GOOD thing. We're upgrading to the next level. More features, more opportunities to make the forums better. Best of all, we're bringing back Wednesday Night Atari Chat! That's right, the chat room will be back, new and improved. Things are going to look very different. Things will look and feel different in the forums. The forums will be "under construction" for a while, while we dial things in.

Wednesday Night Atari Chat returns to the forums! Within a few weeks of our new chat room opening Wednesday Night Atari Chat will be back, hosted by Justin, btbfilms76, and The Professor. You might see DeLorean, Doctor Octagon, and Museum Matt pop in too! Expect NEW games, contests, events and trivia nights to be back later this summer or fall.

We care very much about your experience in the Atari I/O Forums, and we’re looking at all options to make the new chat room bigger and better than ever before. You choose to spend time here and we want it to feel like home. A big part of what has made this community so special was the chat room and the events held there. We want to get it right.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR CURRENT LOGIN AND PASSWORD. Write it down somewhere and keep it safe. Captcha is offline until the upgrade. If you forgot your password and need to reset it, send me a PM and we will reset it for you. Also make sure to back up any important files, contacts or information you have stored in PMs, galleries or posted in the forums.  NOW is the time to take care of this. Don’t wait!

We may experience some interruptions during the upgrade. The forums may be inaccessible for short periods of time, member pips (rankings) may disappear briefly, and things could feel unfamiliar. Captcha is offline. Expect the unexpected.

    PHASE I: FORUMS UPGRADE
    (Over the coming weeks)
Our forums upgrade will take place over the coming weeks. The big switchover will happen mostly at once, with fine tuning and new features coming online as we dial things in.

    PHASE II: NEW CHAT ROOM
    (In time for summer)
A new chat room will open in the forums following completion of the upgrade. Within a few weeks of the new chat room opening, Wednesday Night Atari Chat will begin with weekly hosted events by Justin, btbfilms76, and The Professor. We’re lining up new trivia events, contests and prizes to follow shortly thereafter.

    PHASE III: CUSTOM DESIGN
(TBA - After phase I & II are completed)
Further customization (Time & $$$) of the forums may take place at some point following the completion of our forums upgrade and launch of the new chat room. This will depend on user feedback and our experience with the new forums going forward.

I quite enjoyed it. It was refreshing to see a family friendly show like this that is fun and adventurous. I never saw the old show but I do remember the movie from 20 years ago with Gary Oldman, Mimi Rogers, Joey from Friends and the Boogie Nights girl. This was much better than that. Got a little slow in parts but I found myself wanting to see what happened in the next episode and now I'm hooked to see what happens in season 2.

The pinball table looks surprisingly good. I love these plug and play videos since I generally wouldn't personally pick these up so their fun to see. I think the only P&P I own is the Space Invaders that some have used for 7800 controllers. It's got Qix and Phoenix which are arcade favorites of mine.

Dab a small bit of flux onto your braid. You're essentially trying to create the same effect as when you solder to pads, but in the reverse direction.

I use hot air a lot because, for most tasks, you don't need a terribly good unit and can get away with doing decent work with something cheap. I got one for work where I needed to do some SMD rework for ~$40. At that price I'm just going to use it until destruction and replace with something similar if the need arises again.

N.B., I thought those suckers were a great idea until I had to actually do a lot of removal. It's handy for removing large amounts from some awkward spots, but it doesn't seem to really do much better than a bit of braid.

The desoldering guns are the best way to go but unless you use them a lot I can't justify the expense. RickR is correct that it seems like you need the iron really hot for desoldering braid. I normally prefer solder suckers but these tiny solder points on IC's that are so close together seem impossible to suck up.

My wife bought me a ps4 with battlefront II on boxing day and I really enjoyed it. The campaign story is great and there's a small sequel as well that's a free download called "Resurrection". I've played through the campaign twice and may again. I'm not a multiplayer guy but I do enjoy playing the arcade section against the bots. I have a lot of fun with it for what it is but I would recommend the game.

I'd love to try Stunt Car Racer. One of my all time favorite DOS PC games is Stunt Driver by Spectrum Holobyte. I could never find a decently priced copy on ebay. I wonder if they make it for the Atari ST? Speaking of which, I'd love to see a top 10 list for the Atari ST. It's a system I own but don't know much about.
