I really liked it. The only weird part is how he got the name "Solo". Seemed contrived and unnecessary but other than that, yea I really liked it.

As we approach the opening of the "PRE-ORDERS" just 5 days away (I STILL HAVE A BIG ISSUE CALLING A FUNDING CAMPAIGN PRE-ORDERS)

    Still no
    specs.
    game list.
    developers list

THIS IS INSANE though just proving what I assumed all along.

The new ATARI VCS has been NOTHING but talk, claims, marketing hype and nothing more. Over priced, no real titles announced besides the Atari VAULT ? Come on. STOP CALLING A CROWDFUNDING SITE A PRE-ORDER, there is nothing to pre-order yet, there is a BOX they are making a lot of claims about, that footage they showed playing CENTIPEDE? Not even sure that was legit as you could not even tell if the controller was actually in sync with it, could of very well been running on a retro pie for all we know and IF, and that is a big IF everything they have shown and claim turns out 100% legit SO WHAT? Who is this for? It is way over priced for what they claim it will do that you cannot do already elsewhere and probably for better and cheaper. After major delays now they claim Spring 2019? Just my opinion but anyone giving one dime towards this BEFORE verified gameplay on real hardware and some real announced titles is foolish and even then I think you'd be silly to pay that much for Wood grain style and an ATARI logo.   There is nothing new or forward thinking about this product.

It has some compatibility issues to watch for.  I'd say about 10% of games won't work on it.  It does have a really nice picture quality though!

"Pre-Orders" for a crowd funding with no games list , no developers list , no finalized hardware specs....... NO THANKS.

What were the ones in the 80's? Electronic Games? I used to love those, bought them every month back then. I'm pretty sure there's a site that has them all cataloged in PDF form which is great now so you don't need all those magazines taking up space. I used to have all the Rainbow magazines in the 80s too which was the monthly magazine for the Tandy Color Computer.

If I come across older gaming magazines I'll usually just pick them up to read through a bit and then re-donate them.

The 2600 I collect and enjoy now. I had a few growing up long after the crash but I didn't give it a fair chance and parted with them almost as soon as I got them. I have a lot of respect for it now and almost every game I have for it I like...almost.? So, for me personally, the 2600 would have to be my choice for this topic.

Almost every other known console I had and enjoyed spiritually. NEO GEO was for the rich then and is still for the rich now. I never had, nor played, that console other than the stand up arcade.

This list does not include my xbox and xbox 360 games as I haven't added those yet. Also missing are my TI-99, VIC-20, and Atari 8-bit carts. I have duplicates for nearly all the classic systems but have never inventoried them and keep them in a big box separately.

One of the other hobbies of mine is refinishing old furniture. Old wooden dressers, real wood not that particle board crap, can sometimes be found fairly cheaply at yard sales or goodwill, etc especially if it's kind of beat up. You can then strip and sand them and re-stain them, put on some new hardware and you have a nice storage solution. Dressers I find are great for storing games or items you don't necessarily want displayed and they're great and strong enough for putting smaller CRT's and consoles on top for playing.

I have some Windows PC stuff that are sharing shelves with console games. While they are there I feel they need their own corner and shelf. To my eyes they are mucking up my console game collection when I know they're not.

I feel that way about one machine I have. At times I feel like it's a waste of space that could be used for other things but I enjoy looking at it at the same time even if I never use it.

All consoles I have I consider part of my collection without regards to how old or new they are, Wii and 360 included. Speaking of consoles I had an original Intellivision a few years ago but didn't care for the system. As of recent I've taken a liking to the Intellivision II console. I like the design but know some games don't work with it. I just wish I knew which ones and if I would like to use it or not.

If my collection could use anything it would be storage options that are budget friendly. Stands for heavy CRTs are not made anymore and the two shelves I liked and wanted more of Walmart stopped carrying them. So I am looking for alternatives. My entire Wii game collection sits in the box GameStop uses for Wii systems and a box left from a 12 pack of ramens is holding 27 2600 carts, both are sitting in odd spots acting like small shelves. Would be nice to see what others use.

Not at all.  I was just thinking something similar.  In the 90's, my gaming was all done on a PC.  Great games.  I've kept a lot of them.  But I don't consider them part of my collection either.  I think it's because the machine itself (or machines, I should say) are gone and there is no desire to recreate them.  PC gaming involved a lot of special hardware, constant upgrades, etc.  That stuff is no fun now.  It was fun back then to read reviews, pick the components you wanted, and then find the best deals.  But painful to even think about now.

I guess it all falls down to the simplicity of console gaming.  Plug and play.

Atarileaf reacted to RickR in SOLD Magnavox Odyssey 2 and 3 games
I want to list this here before I go to the Atariage marketplace or ebay to see if anyone has interest.  It's a fully working Magnavox Odyssey2  with three game carts.  It comes with power adapter, but no RF adapter (a normal modern screw-in type works, as does any old Atari slider switchbox).

When I got this console, one of the controllers was cut off.  I very carefully soldered each wire back together and individually heat-shrinked each wire.  I then covered that with duct tape.  See the picture.  It is ugly, but works perfectly.

Given all that, I'd be happy to sell it to someone here for only $20 + shipping.

    Please PM me!

Am I the only one who kind of looks at my collection in parts as in these games are part of my collection but these aren't? By that I mean I do own some Big box older PC games and I have a PS3, a PS4 and a Wii but I don't consider them part of my "collection". I view them as separate. My collection is my Atari and NES stuff and the rest are just video games I own and enjoy. Is that weird?

    79%. You forgot mine lol

Then you could use the $200 to get more games. Start buying games for another system maybe?

How can there be too much when they are organized nice and neatly? I do my chores so I feel like I earn my right to have those games lol.

The comments on facebook suggest there are people excited for this thing. Or they're just being sarcastic I can't tell. The video of the boot up screen just looks like a variation of a flashback screen. If anything you'd think they'd want to distance themselves from the look and feel of a flashback otherwise they just end up promoting the competition - "Hey look our machine looks and plays just like a flashback, only at several times the cost!"

I'll just get Tempest 4000 on the PS4.
