  1. I showed these off back in my pickups vid from a few months ago, but here are some photos to add to the mix. Quest Industries Inc.'s Questar II -- a high quality 8-way leaf-switch joystick with arcade styling, a metallic base, and dual buttons for ambidextrous use. TG Products' EnjoyStick -- fits in the palm of your hand, has a self-centering stick similar to a Vectrex joystick, and the top black piece is reversible, allowing placement of the button on either side. I still need to take some good photos of the Fire Command II...
  2. You could serve some cheese and crackers with that thing! Really sweet score.
  3. YMMV, but... I want the last 11 minutes of my life back. This is a terrible and/or unfinished game with very little in the way of polish. Actually, forget being polished, there's very little in the way of GAME. That anyone was ever charged $15 for a glorified helicopter sound effects simulator is a travesty. I think "THRT" might be the throttle? Maybe? Setting it to ":" (which comes after 9... sometimes) makes you hover. Not that hovering really helps you accomplish anything. "0" makes you fly fastest. There isn't all that much difference between the 10 speed levels, though, assuming that's what they are. "PASS", I once got to decrease from 40 to 28, but I have no idea how I did it. Did I lose some passengers somehow? Is PASS even short for passengers? My kingdom for a game manual, not that it would likely explain all that much... It doesn't seem like you can hit enemy aircraft, though I admit that I only gave it about three minutes of trying. Some of the ground targets (tanks, and... ?) can be destroyed, but I have no idea how it decides whether you've hit something or not. Rockets either go part-way across the screen, or wrap around the screen multiple times. Not sure if that's just random, or what. Not that it MATTERS, you can't seem to do anything all that useful with them! Indeed, the most entertaining (I guess?) part was flying down through the glitched graphics to see the glitched-out title screen float past. "I'm afraid this gets my lowest rating ever: seven thumbs up!"
  4. Congratulations, and best wishes for continued success! Thumbs up for the business name, too...
  5. Wow -- the technological improvement between World (Great) Soccer to FIFA International Soccer is quite something! (1987, global release) (late 1996, released in Brazil only)
  6. All now gone except the Atari Light Sixer. Photos at this link. I haven't bothered to clean/dust it yet, but I can do so before shipping it if you like. There's one ding on the bezel/trim around the switches, and some of the orange paint trim has worn away, but it works perfectly. PM me if interested!
  7. Maybe upload a generic unlisted/private video with the music in question, and see if that gets auto-flagged by YouTube? This would (hopefully) at least save you the trouble of putting it into your finished product only to have it rejected later...
  8. I'm used to the 5200 and 2600 versions of Mario Bros -- I played both of them a ton growing up, especially the 2600 version. This was my first serious go with the 7800 version. I had a great run, but first I need to vent! The collision detection between the purple fireball and the platforms in this port is ATROCIOUS. Killed more than one great run that I had going. You score no points for killing fireballs, seriously? Killing them is more trouble than it's worth, especially when taking into account the just-mentioned poor collision detection... There's an infuriating (to me, anyway ) movement mechanic quirk: if you jump, let's say to the right, then in mid-jump move your joystick to change direction to left before you land, but you jump again at the same instant that you land, you *don't* change direction for the next jump, and instead continue to jump right! Game programming should not prioritize jumping over detecting the player direction.* Anyway, my score: 194,240 * I just learned that this happens in the arcade version as well. So I guess technically I can't be as mad as I was before. Still, I consider this a bug; a player should not be punished for trying to be precise!
  9. NSG traded me back the Xonox double-ender that I traded to him a while back (thanks for hanging onto it!)... plus a STACK of 2600/7800 manuals.
  10. Oh man, optical illusion had me completely fooled too! It absolutely looks like a poster (or something) rolled up and laying on the table, but... it's something red and fairly flat being held, turned toward the person to the right of the photographer. Edit: OR it's a rolled up poster laying on the table. Edit #2: Okay, I'm going with rolled up poster. Look at its faint shadow/reflection on the table, especially as it cuts the film box's white reflection.
  11. Another cool video, NSG. Super Breakout was about as poor a choice as Atari could have made for the 5200, IMO. To offer any breakout-type game without a paddle/spinner of some kind to play it with is already asking for trouble, before you even get to the quality and enjoyability of it. Getting back to Mt. Rushmore for a minute -- would you consider Minestorm a pack-in game? It's obviously not featured on a standalone cartridge, but being built-in on the Vectrex and coming with an overlay, I think it qualifies... what do you say?
  12. This one is courtesy of the Digital Press brick-and-mortar shop in NJ -- $1 well-spent!
  13. I've seen Spain suggested on more than one occasion but I don't know for sure. It seems like the majority of hits today for these particular Funvision JR clones are from .es sites, anyway. Looks like the same JR clone (with the same joysticks) was also distributed by Kingsway in New Zealand / Australia. My best guess is that these were all being manufactured in the same place -- almost certainly Taiwan -- for global distribution. The instruction sheet that comes with the Funvision lists games with the same misspellings as those found on the Taiwanese pirate game carts (Reever Raad, Cracker Pet, Emdurl, Spaidder Fight, etc). Edit: looks like the Italian clone had the same sticks as well...
  14. Those are sticks that came with the Funvision Home Computer (2600 clone from Spain). Pretty neat find! You can maybe grate some parmesan cheese with those.
  15. BRB, buying this to play Enduro the right way! http://www.ebay.com/itm/192140880765?rmvSB=true
  16. Day 6, 923.9 mi Was flooring it at the end, crashed on the last car needed to pass to make Day 7.
  17. READY 10 PRINT "WELCOME TO ATARI.IO" 20 GOTO 10 RUN
  18. ALL SOLD! Sears Video Arcade, Heavy Sixer -- $50 (sold) serial #17627U left controller port seems to have an issue with a joystick moving left otherwise in nice, working condition comes with original OEM Atari gray H6er power adapter Sears Video Arcade, Heavy Sixer -- $40 (sold) serial #11288S left controller port has issue as discussed here ("stuck" firing, potentially the 4050 hex buffer chip needs replacing) otherwise in nice, working condition comes w/generic 1A power adapter Atari CX2600, Light Sixer (Dimerco / Taiwan) -- $20 (sold) serial #81611040 tested and works 100%, in VG condition comes w/ OEM Atari power adapter Sears Paddles, H6er model (w/ Sears logo) -- $12, or $8 if purchased with an above H6 console (sold) paddle pots need cleaning/adjustment but do work; P2 fire button not working CX-10 joystick -- $10, or $6 if purchased with an above H6 console (sold) it's dead, Jim... but it *is* a CX-10 no hex disc, naturally CX-78 two-button joypad -- $24 (traded) missing the thumbstick original black Atari cable (not the gray Best Electronics one)
  19. On the flip side, a number of modern non-CRT TVs are able to handle a PAL signal well enough to play a game, too. For example mine usually displays either a light flicker or a rolling line, but the entire picture doesn't roll like it normally would with older televisions. That said, if you're looking for a copy you can play, I'd be willing to trade you an NTSC copy for your PAL copy. Alternatively: welcome to the wonderful world of Atari label variant collecting!
  20. Anyone happen to have laying around a spare 5-pin DIN/composite cable (for XL/XE)? Just added the first A8 to my collection!

Soon! It powers on; A/V cable should be here tomorrow or Monday.

  21. Day 5, 0749.9 mi Forgot to record this one at 60fps -- it looks like my car tires aren't spinning at all...
  22. Yeah, I really love the look of the longboxes. Were the early PS1 games the last time a console system had discs inside jewel cases inside cardboard boxes?
  23. Took stuff! - PS1 longbox game, nice! Next Generation mag said "Jupiter Strike is noteworthy strictly for having almost no good qualities at all." Now that's a game I have to try! Sometimes I forget that PS3s play PS1 discs. - MST3K DVDs, including MITCHELL! A classic. Bonus Gorgo artwork. - Nice lookin' manual for 7800 Ballblazer, which is a cart I don't have... yet. - Venture (Coleco) for the 2600, which was one of the more common carts I was missing. Great condition, no less. - Wico Command Control joystick -- one of the best for the 2600, IMO. I had one, now I have two -- no more fighting over who gets the Wico! This one feels and plays great. - A Coleco Gemini controller, which is a neat addition to any Atari collection, if you ask me. Haven't tested this one yet, but I'm looking forward to it! RJB is packed up and will be heading to the West Coast starting tomorrow...
