Welcome to our 160th Squad Challenge! This month we'll be playing Ms. Hack, the late Nukey Shay's epic rendition of an Atari 2600 arcade classic. Ms. Hack features enhanced game modes and a slew of improvements over Atari's beloved original. We are playing the ROM dated 8-19-2009 which is provided below. Enjoy!

New PB: 109,950. I have a few observations:

  • I did not expect to lose my last life in the manner illustrated in the photo. I guess the ghosts get really aggressive in the latter stages.
  • I find myself needing to turn a pinch sooner than in other versions.
  • It's difficult to "group" the ghosts prior to eating a power pellet.
  • Tangentially Related: The power pellets do not follow the arcade pattern. Example: You can usually rake during the Pear stage, but not in this version.
  • I did get two bananas in the Random stages. Both were followed by a cherry & strawberry, respectively. (It's a 2% chance of getting consecutive bananas.)

This is a really fun one.  It is kind of unique to make an orig version of a game Atari made themselves.  Both versions are super impressive!

I'm playing on the PlusCart, and the version I have shows a 2009 date on the opening credit screen.  I hope that's the right one!  Oh yeah, and that opening credit screen is really nice too.
