I actually got a SuperDisk drive a while ago and it's pretty quick as a floppy drive! It even ejects by itself, which is cool!

I agree!  That sounds like a very cool feature!

I had a SuperDisk drive, too. I liked the fact that it was backwards-compatible with 3.5" floppies. It was great.

I think that makes sense as it would have helped with people adopting the tech.  Looks like it didn't work that way, though.

That was neat. An interesting improvement on the standard floppy, good for cameras. Though honestly in the 90s I was all about the Zip Disk. I still have a 100MB and a 250MB drives. Those blue drives just looked so cool. I even have a Zip Disk branded carrying case for taking it on the go. 😄

I defintely remember seeing commercials for it but never seen any SuperDisk drives or disks at any of the major office supply stores, probably why they flopped.

If there were I would had picked one up as I was always transfering files between the college computer lab and my home PC.  Zip drives were popular but they were bulky and require special drivers when using them to install stuff on new computers.

I ended up buying a spindle of CD-Rs because the computer lab PC's had CD burners...and Napster.

I don't remember seeing SuperDisk drives anywhere either aside from a trade show I went to in the late 90s.

Ultimately you made the right choice, CD-Rs and Napster was a heck of a good time then. 😄

I definitely recall it and I thought the idea of all the capacity on a floppy was a great idea, especially since it was backwards compatible but at that time my only thought was how it could be made to work with my AMIGA computer and even for its brief time on the market I don't think any drivers or support came to AMIGA. Lastly, this was a time when so many things were being introduced, Iomega, Syquest etc, every company trying to come up with the next big storage format, I THINK IT WAS A GREAT IDEA but as usual it was timing, no doubt if it had come out a year or two before I suspect it would have made much more of an impact but as it was, I think it came too late where other competing formats were getting lower etc. I kind of miss those days, to me the market was, for better or worse, a lot more "exciting" before everything was more standardized.

That reminds me, there was a floppical drive sold by SyQuest that stored 21Mb per disk and can read PC formated High Density floppies.  Only good for backups of course but it used a SCSI interface so it could be used on Amigas, Macs & STs (w/ adapter or hard disk controller).

I remember a lot of Unix labs had this kind of disk too. 😄
