Justin
I had a cool Halloween picture from long ago that I was going to post here but suddenly I can't find it! I'll keep looking and try to get posted today. Otherwise I'll have to wait until next year 🎃 What are your favorite Halloween memories, stories and traditions? One of my favorite memories was watching the original Halloween (1978) movie, which has become something we do almost every year. People would come from all over into our town to celebrate Halloween and we'd sit out front handing out candy. Seasonally we'd always have fun with elaborate halloween decorations. My dad would dress as Darth Vader and put on a record of spooky sounds to make the house sound haunted when people came to the door. RickR
In modern times, we've come to enjoy watching "The Simpsons" Halloween specials all in a row. Well, I guess there are too many now, so we can pick and choose. We'll also queue up the Charlie Brown Halloween Special. I've done the decorations many times, with favorites being blasting scary sounds and music from the garage, and using a projector to show scary scenes on a sheet on the highest window on front of the house. But we have a neighbor now who does a VERY elaborate pirate ship extravaganza, and it's hard to compete without looking pathetic 🙂 So now we just walk the neighborhood and look at all the other decorations. Tonight, I came up with the brilliant idea of finding the Disney classic cartoon "Lonesome Ghosts" and watching that after dinner. And maybe that one 3 Stooges short that is set in the graveyard. DegasElite
I remember in high school we had a Halloween party. I dressed up as a cyborg. It was fun. I would love to try to experiment with my own homemade makeup to make my own more realistic looks for Halloween, though.I am waiting for trick-or-treaters to come to my neighborhood. We had snow today for the first time of the season, and there may be fewer kids because of the colder weather. I hope not, though. I always liked "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." It's funny when Linus gets scared by Snoopy thinking he is the Great Pumpkin. Classic stuff. Justin, RickR and Sabertooth
MaximumRD
Well, Justin, since you mentioned an image, you couldn’t find, one immediately came to my mind. I’m looking through a box of old photos, which is where I keep them all now, I did find the one that I had in mind as well. I scanned a couple more. Well by scanned I mean, I took them with my iPad and cropped them, it’s quite impressive that all these things come out, actually. Anyway, you see me here with my buddy Steve back in my teen years. We were good friends, anyway we were heading out for some Halloween shenanigans, he dressed pretty much as a tribute to his favourite band, Mötley Crüe and me well, being over 6 feet tall, around 6 foot four actually I decided to go as an imposing Grim Reaper borrowing a monks robe from our drama class, as well, I had my old uncle make me the scythe, it is actually made with a long wooden handle and sheet metal for the blade as it were, we were stopped on the street by a patrolling police officer who had to have a look at the scythe. He decided to let me keep it, simply saying "Be careful", fun times. Note that in the picture where it’s just me as the reaper it was a practice shot the one with my buddy Steve looks better because I now have black makeup around my eyes to enhance the effect of the skull mask, because we were just getting ready to head out I applied that extra step. Anyway, I’ll throw in these other ones because I figured what the heck, you see me here in a quick and fast "Halloween" costume I decided to just wear my McDonald’s employee outfit for the time, this was actually the older one they later her change the colour and style, but I had held on to this original one, and I just simply went out as a McDonald’s employee that time. It is an authentic uniform, although the one that was out of fashion by the time I was wearing it, so I guess in a way I was going out as a retro McDonald’s employee. I thought as well, even though it’s not exactly in the theme of Halloween, but for context and contrast, here’s a picture of me on a terminal in the Spring of 88' when I worked on the Lakeshore in a film processing plant (Chas Abel Photo Finishing) on the Lakeshore, I worked overnight, and I would process all those pictures that people would send in, to be specific, I was on the part of the line that would take the negatives and print photos out of them, again fun and interesting times. Lastly it’s just me lying on my bed and we know it's June '87 thanks to the calendar on the wall 😁acting like a silly fellow as you can see from my wall, I was quite into all the heavy metal stuff and this is probably typical of a photograph I would take back in the day. I had the box of old photos out practising some scanning with my iPad so figured I'd just throw these in as well.😝 Edited November 1 by MaximumRD RickR, Sabertooth, Justin and 1 other 3 1 Quote I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. I meant for us to be able to share our Halloween photos with each other and I was unable to find my photo to start things off. These are awesome photos! I’m glad you shared 🧟♂️ DegasElite, MaximumRD and Sabertooth
