Which would you rather play in 2025?

  1. 1. Common Classics on Crazy Mode, or Discover Less Common Games? (Choose One)

    • I'd rather play common classics on "Ultimate" or "Crazy" difficulty settings - Centipede, Galaga, Missile Command, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Yars' Revenge, etc.
      3
    • I'd rather use High Score Squad to discover new games I've overlooked or haven't played - Less common titles, Homebrews, ROM Hacks, Forgotten Gems

EVERYONE gets to pick at least one game! Suggestions for new ideas, different events, challenges, double features, pinball, contests and more are all welcome!

We are looking forward to hearing from all of you about which games you would like to see in our 2025 lineup and beyond. Let’s do this!!

Choose your 1st game as your Top Choice to play in 2025! Then, you can choose additional games to list as alternates. You never know if they will get chosen, remixed or used the following year.

Also be sure to enjoy Club VCS where there’s a new “Recharged” Squad Challenge every month, hosted by Atari VCS sensei, Moderator @Sabertooth!

Let's make 2025 an amazing year for everyone!

Let's get the word out and invite friends to play in High Score Squad and Club VCS this year! We want to make 2025 incredible. Seeing lots of outside High Score events shared here. Great! You can be sharing High Score Squad and Club VCS in other Discords, forums, groups, videos and social media to invite others to play with us also. The more people participating the more fun the challenge! Spread the word and invite friends to play!

2600

Thunderground (Top Choice) gets no love and it's wicked fun. Always looking for an excuse to have to play Galaxian. Maybe a 2 player game like Combat or Air Sea Battle for Valentines?

7800

Astroids. GALAGA

Intellivision

Commando. Masters of the Universe.

EDIT

I didn't offer any Genesis titles because that was all I would request before, lol but how about Astro Warrior on the SMS?

I'll leave it there.

7800:  Food Fight

2600:  River Raid (Note:  I really like the idea of doing Activision games and challenging/helping everyone get the patch score), Dragonfire

Genesis (we don't give the Genesis enough love):  Golden Axe 2

NES:  Arkanoid

October games should be Halloween themed:  2600 Frankenstein's Monster, Haunted House....help me out here.

December = snow based games:  Winter Games, Skiing, etc.

I'll go with River Raid as a top choice.

I'm also going to nominate the 1942 demo for Atari 7800. It's possibly the most fun game I've played on the 7800 and it looks beautiful. I want to play it for hours. You can play the demo here, it's the first option in the dropdown menu:

Plaion reportedly tried to get a license so this could be published for the 7800+. Either Capcom wasn't interested, or wanted too much - I don't recall which.

Jaguar: I'm going to nominate Defender 2000 - Minter's other Jaguar game. Also, Breakout 2000 In celebration of 50 years of Breakout! The state of Jaguar emulation has improved to the point that everyone should be able to play.

Lynx: Super Missile Command. With Evercade, Atari50, and a re-release from Songbird, this once rare title is now easy to experience in a number of ways.

7800: Klax. I can't believe the Tramiels didn't publish this after paying for licensing and development. Bonkers.

A8/5200: The Dreadnaught Factor. Always loved this one. Can't remember if we've played it before.

2600: Robotwar 2684. A modern classic from Champ Games.

If we include ROM hacks, Haunted Adventure might be pretty fun (it's basically Adventure with a Haunted House theme).

I’m totally open to doing ROM hacks if you guys nominate them. It would be helpful to have links to pages where these ROMs are available that we can include in the Squad Challenges.

We did that a year or so ago, IIRC. I think I won the Starpath one.

I was using those as an example.  Enduro and Pole Position would be good ones, like @RickR suggested.  Phoenix and Demon Attack would be another good one.  Have those game been done?

My bad, I should have figured.

I think we played Phoenix previously? Phoenix is an excellent conversion. Demon Attack is fun and still holds up.
