The Professor Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Bluth and Goldman created the Kickstarter campaign on Monday, seeking $550,000 to make an animated movie based on "Dragon's Lair." The arcade game was first released in 1983. See Dragon's Lair on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/donbluth/dragons-lair-the-movie Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are coming together once again to bring the classic arcade game Dragon's Lair to the big screen. We are seeking your help to create a pitch to make Dragon’s Lair, the Movie through a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign. Dragon's Lair continues to be loved by millions around the world since 1983, and fans have been waiting patiently to see Dirk and Daphne at it again. Join us in this adventure as we prepare to bring Dragon's Lair to a new generation. We’ve worked on '20' successful animation motion pictures, some of them “iconic”, The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven and Anastasia to name a few. And this, in my opinion, has got to be one of the neatest Kickstarter rewards I've ever seen. For 24 backers pledging at the $750 level, they will receive a live online instructional animation lesson with Don Bluth:
AlamoAtari Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Interesting, maybe more arcade games to accompany the movie?
Rowsdower70 Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 I loved this game so much as a kid. This one, Thayer's Quest, and to a lesser extent Space Ace were game changers. Albeit a temporary game changer. "For you - Rowsdower from the 70 - have been appointed Omnivisioner of the Game Grid." ~ Atari Adventure Square
AlamoAtari Posted December 1, 2015 Report Posted December 1, 2015 The Kickstarter was canceled, it looks like they are moving it to indigogo starting tomorrow. I hope that they took onboard the suggestions that fans really wanted. It still looks promising. http://gonintendo.com/stories/247557-dragon-s-lair-the-movie-kickstarter-cancelled-moving-to-indiego
RickR Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Their Facebook page is incredible. Pencil drawings, background paintings, etc. Just beautiful work.
