How about this unique item:

"We found a handful of these cartridges while moving our storage facility. We used to host Atari 2600 competitions and this is what was given as a first place prize!

This listing is for ( 1 ) 24K Gold Embossed Atari 2600 Olympic Trophy Cartridge

It is no easy task to create this thing! These were made for us about a decade ago by a former employee who had about 30 years experience in the exotic car body work business. A standard Atari 2600 Cartridge was stripped and prepared, it was then wrapped in 24K gold embossed exotic car wrap (This wrap is about $89 a square foot.) The only reason these came to be is because he about 5 square feet left from a Delorean restoration. (It has been so long, we don't know if it is actual 24K or just the name given to the color) The emblem was then added to the cartridge (soldered?), it is a genuine 1980 LA Olympic Conference Atari 2600 Video Game Pin. (Which we also sell in our store)

The actual cartridge does work, but we don't want to mess with the wrap to test, but the cartridge won't be any earth-shattering title, I believe we used Pac Mans, Space Invaders, maybe ET's etc. Although the wrap is permanent we don't want to surface mark the sheen by inserting it into a system."

The Los Angeles Olympics were in 1984. I'm curious as to why exactly this person would need to use 24k gold in a DeLorean restoration. There were only three original gold cars and restoration is unlikely. Seems odd to me.

I'm unsure what is going on with this. Interesting though.

The backstory sounds odd. Not sure what bearing it has on the actual product. If someone wants a gold 2600 cart with a 1984 Olympics emblem then it seems like a deal.

I'm guessing the restorer is trying to make a replica of one of the four gold-plated AMEX DMC-12's????

that seller also sells repros for much higher figures, dunno if he has shill bidders or not for those ..... I'm glad it was still in the single digits.

I looked a few of his other items for Atari 2600 & seemed fairly ok.

some people don't like him at all , he outids them on cool items only to flip it (hence his username their)

again , glad you atleast got a game with the pin :D

Well, I won it with a "someone will definitely outbid me" bid. Quick, help me come up with an excuse when my wife says WTH!

Did it arrive yet?

Seems like a lot of the Gold color is starting to wear off.

Looking at the bottom, I wonder how easy it wold be to unwrap it.

Not seeing wear, are you sure you're not mistaking glare for wear?

"Slugs, he created slugs?...Is this not the work of a complete incompetent? I would have started with Lasers, 8 o'clock, day one."-Evil (Time Bandits)

"...burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me..."-theme song (Firefly)

"I try to respect him, I really, really do, but he's just such a Smeg-head."-Lister (about Rimmer, Red Dwarf)

There is no wear, you're right. I suppose it could be unwrapped. But it would probably rip the covering.

Don't do it!  :emoji-E420:
