MaximumRD
RE: John / Gamester81 Honestly myself, I been saying it without flat out saying it to be polite, I really do NOT think John was in on the fake prototype or console scam, he simply is not smart enough, ignorance is bliss, he follows because he does not know any better. When he says "My company (CollectorVision) just develops games" he says it like we are supposed to believe that he has anything to do with that process lol. "John" does not develop anything, he has a personal financial stake in the company that ports games but he is just a face, someone people for god knows why relate to and admire because he has a huge collection but I never found him personally to be very knowledgeable beyond the most basic info you can look up on wikipedia regarding his consoles, games etc. I am sure he loves classic games and yeah he has a killer collection and I've no doubt at heart he is a nice guy but at the same time I only ever considered his involvement with Collectorvision like Steve Jobs with APPLE, a frontman, a face except more of a lobotomized Steve Jobs who really is just there to be the go between man for Collectorvision and the gaming community as it were. I THINK to assume he was in cahoots with MIKE KENNEDY is giving John far too much credit but yeah his video addressing things was horrible. Let's forget this system, forget the drama and move on as a community. As always, STRONG LANGUAGE. Agreed. My video was supposed to be my final opinion. I do hope that someone will see that there was a following for this and will actually make something like this, you know, someone with actual money and talent. The only reason why something like MST3K got 6 mil on their Kickstarter was due to their following before the Kickstarter. Something is likely NOT going to get over 1 mil if it is a project out of thin air without substance. http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/5/11166982/coleco-chameleon-controversy-kickstarter-indiegogo-toy-fair Quote Retro obsessed dude

Justin
Polygon is reporting that David Giltinan, managing editor of Retro Magazine (owned by Mike Kennedy) has quit, leaving the Coleco Chameleon project and Retro Magazine citing "the controversy surrounding the console and questions of its legitimacy" raised this week. On March 5, David Giltinan posted a note on his LinkedIn page (screen cap below) saying "everything going on with the Coleco Chameleon is a major reason why I have to separate myself from everything associated with it." From David Giltinan's note: "I am not aiming to throw anyone under the bus for why things went south with the project. The blame is shared by all on the team, including myself. With that, I apologize for any ignorance on my part for not fully following through with my desire for the truth when speaking about the console. Instead I allowed myself to become a vessel for misinformation, and for that I am again sorry. Those of you who believe we were simply trying to scam consumers or take advantage of the retro gaming community don't know the whole picture. There was no ill intent or maliciousness on the part of the team. All we had in mind was to make a modern day retro-inspired console, nothing more and nothing less. I won't go into specifics as to what went wrong (especially since none of us know the full story yet), although I will apologize on behalf of the team for the poor messaging of the product and the way we handled interacting with the community." David's note in full: From Polygon: Key figure quits beleaguered project to make a new Coleco console Prototype unit was accused of being 'a SNES Jr. duct-taped into a Jaguar shell' http://www.polygon.com/2016/3/5/11166982/coleco-chameleon-controversy-kickstarter-indiegogo-toy-fair Yo-Yo, DeLorean, Lost Dragon and 2 others

btbfilms76
MK still remains silent. Will Coleco take the name back? Will the "prototype" actually be inspected? Or will it be another clever excuse, such as - "Well we decided to go another direction... Atari's 300 game library... Toys R Us wants to stock it... Yada yada yada". My prediction, MK will make one more huge blunder before this saga is through. We shall see what happens, I have not heard from MK since the last phone convo we had, who knows what is going on. Justin
BREAKING: COLECO HOLDINGS HAS OFFICIALLY PULLED ITS NAME FROM THE CHAMELEON PROJECT Statement from Coleco: "Retro has decided that the work that they have created is not sufficient to demonstrate at this time. Consequently, we can no longer proceed with the project and the Chameleon project will be terminated. This separation is amicable. We wish Retro luck in the future." The first line of the statement is a polite way of saying RetroVGS has refused to comply with Coleco's demand to inspect their prototype units within a seven day timeframe per their agreement. This puts RetroVGS in breach of contract with Coleco, and has resulted in Coleco Holdings pulling their name from the project. Coleco was never able to examine the prototypes and has no new information to share with us. The Professor
Was there any one of us who didn't expect this to happen? I think we were all just waiting for the other shoe to drop. The Retro team has never shown their hardware to date. If they refused to show it to their partners at Coleco I'm sure they had no other choice but to pull heir name from the project.
