RickR
http://blog.nasm.si.edu/conservation/uss-enterprise-conservation-begins/ The original model of the Enterprise from the original series was donated to the Smithsonian in 1974, and is now going through a full restoration. It's fascinating to look at the pictures. I'm very appreciative that the museum is giving this restoration the full respect of doing it right. Also very neat that they are documenting the process for all of us to see. It will be interesting to see if they put the model back into the basement gift shop (where it was before) of the Air and Space Museum, or if it gets a more prominent location for display. Atari 5200 Guy
As Spock would have put it...may the Enterprise "live long and prosper". This is something I really didn't know anything about. It's very cool to see the model get the attention it deserves. I hope that the team restoring her can return her to how she originally looked.
