eBay "Do Not Use" List

Recommended Posts

What about bad ebay merchants?  Can we list those here too?  I don't want any liability issues, but I have a seller that sold me a bootleg Nintendo DS game, and their feedback indicates other buyers have had the same issue.  I did get a refund for my purchase (I had to return the item and wait forever).  But is there anything I can do to get Ebay to intervene?

Interesting.  It's why I hesitate to name bad sellers by name.  Some people have bad experiences, and maybe it isn't the sellers fault.

All I can do is state facts, and that is I bought something from him, and it got shipped promptly and was packaged well.  So I'd feel fine recommending that gold cart auction for you.

This is just from my personal experience, and only with sellers....not buyers.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/sundaylakedeals -  this seller never shipped until I opened a request through eBay, never answered any communications.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/partlycat - This one was my fault, I never should have used such an inexperienced seller.  Sent me a beat up copy of Halo after I opened a request. Listed in good condition, item was beat up. No communication, etc.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/bkspeedie- Shipped games in a plain brown envelope.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/batterygallery-  No tracking, bad packing.

Hope this helps.   It takes quite a bit to get bad feedback from me.

Here's an eBay story underway:

This 4-switch was poorly packed in a well worn box that was too small for the console. It was cosmetically sound but advertised "untested". As you know, I like cleaning these up and getting them working again. A unit banged up like this isn't worth fixing. I hate sellers that can't pack their items properly. Hopefully it gets resolved.

I had a woman send me 2 1973 Looney Toons glasses in a biiig box with 2 balled up pieces of newspaper. These glasses had survived over 40 years and this idiot destroyed both. I will say it was the only bad ebay experience I've had.

Oh man!  You just have to wonder what people are thinking sometimes.  That sucks!

I just shipped six crystal glasses:  Stuffed them with newspaper, wrapped them in newspaper, wrapped each in bubble wrap, and put them in a giant cardboard box filled with Styrofoam peanuts.  I hope they arrive safely!

Here's a fun one I just bought. It was for a 7800 with some cool games. Came fast....except the system doesn't work.

So I sent this message to the seller:

Hello! I got the system and games. I've been very busy, but I finally got time to test it today. However, the system doesn't turn on, no matter what I do. Do you want me to return it for a full refund, or do you have a different option?

His answer?

Honestly I did try it before I shopped it and it turned on. There was nothing in the description describing its functionality. You never inquired its status before buying

I was floored. I try to work things out with sellers before I open cases when something is broke or wrong and don't immediately leave bad feedback (I only leave negative feedback in the worst of circumstances). But his reaction warranted me opening a case. Did he just blame me for not asking if it worked before I bought it? Ahem. When you say it is used with "Slight signs of use", the assumption is it works.

Standard eBay rule: If the item does not work properly, it is the sellers responsibility to state it in the auction.

I'll keep y'all posted on what happens. I don't think he sells a lot of gaming stuff, so that may explain a lot too. Shame too, since he has 100% positive feedback. I'm hoping he works it out and it stays that way.

I'm quite certain worst case, eBay will take care of you.

As kind as you are to want to preserve the seller's 100%, keeping potential buyers informed is also important!  So don't be afraid to be honest when you rip them a new one in Feedback. ;)

I'm sure they will. At worst, I'll have to pay the shipping to return it, but for all the flack they can get, ebay has treated me well whenever I've had bad sellers (most sellers are good, btw.)

I'll wait for the case to resolve, but if nothing improves, I do plan to leave negative feedback and share his name here to help other gamers avoid him.
