StarVR Virtual Reality

Not sure if any of you are aware of Starbreeze but apparently they're working on some tasty looking VR kit called StarVR. The FOV is something like 210 degrees (32:9 5120x1440 resolution) as opposed to the 100-140 degrees other headsets are using. I've been trying for about a month now but haven't managed to get a response for information related to it at all from any of their outlets.

 

Guess I'll have to ship them a "hello, I'm trying to contact you, please respond" package ;-)

 

Love the sci-fi space feeling design but Sony's PSVR still looks really futuristic...

 

 

 

I especially like the red =) though I imagine it'll come at a hefty cost, especially compared to the options from Oculus and Sony.

Looks like my recent: "Please respond or I'm willing to jump on a plane, head to Sweden and come knocking at your door for info " something or other worked, as I have finally received a response. Current plan is to have SDK's/development kits available by the end of the year as they finalize their reference design. That was just initial response and follow-up is in order so hopefully there will be more info. I think this is the one to pair up with a nice, new GTX 1080!

 

No idea what their target price is but I have a feeling it is going to be very expensive.

So they just teamed up with Acer. Not sure how I feel about this because I think Acer has lost its way in the quality department and suffers greatly with their hardware in both quality and performance. Either way, it looks like Breeze Studios needed a backing of sorts to really materialize their headset so we'll see where this goes.
