Yars' Revenge

Did you also know that it was a "port" of "Star Castle", an awesome vector classic by Tim Skelly of Cinematronics?  Well, at least it was the same idea, according to HSW. :)

Yep, which is quite nifty.  He decided he couldn't make Star Casle and decided to create something similar but within the capabilities of the 2600.  Little did he know he was creating one of the system's top selling games!

He never said he couldn't do it - he said a straight port of Star Castle would have sucked given the limitations of the VCS.

The beauty of Yars is how the gameplay has a bit more complexity to it.  You don't just shoot everything and move on.  You've gotta build yourself a Zorlon cannon first and then shoot the Quotile with that (without killing yourself in the process). It's such a great feeling to shoot the swirl right out of the air.

Right. It does seem the same way as "Star Castle." Only bigger.
