Arenafoot Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 I found this back in June: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SALE-Atari-Age-Magazine-Lot-of-11-comic-books-and-magazine-Read-Description-/131836253386 asking price $1500.00 relisted for $999.99: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/142020605067? relisted for $499.99: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/142028363332? relisted for $$250.00: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/131865272689? relisted for $75.00: http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-OFF-Atari-Age-Magazine-Lot-of-11-comic-books-and-magazine-Read-Description-/142080676304? then it sold on Aug 25th for $17,000.00!?!?!?!?!? http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-OFF-Atari-Age-Magazine-Lot-of-11-comic-books-and-magazine-Read-Description-/131918962995? Justin Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Sometimes you'll see this happen on eBay when somebody wants to get attention or show off what they've got. Not saying this is the case here, but $17,000 seems a bit much...
Rowsdower70 Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Yeah, I HIGHLY doubt this is a legitimate sale. "For you - Rowsdower from the 70 - have been appointed Omnivisioner of the Game Grid." ~ Atari Adventure Square
Yo-Yo Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 $75 even seems like a reach. Idk what they're worth I think $30 is fair
nosweargamer Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 $75 even seems like a reach. Idk what they're worth I think $30 is fair Actually, I did a little research and found out that this lot sold for between $25-$30 as a best offer. Ballblaɀer Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 "This listing has ended" doesn't necessarily indicate a sale -- I believe it says that for expired listings as well, and best-offer sales too. In any case, yeah, I'm thinking that's either a mistake or a marketing tactic. Then again, who knows... it would only take one out-of-their-mind person to make a fortune!
nosweargamer Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 I did a completed search in sale price order on Atari Age Magazines. You can get an idea on how much it was for based on the sold auctions above and below it when arranged by price it was sold for. So this one sold for about 25 or so. Posting crazy prices can also hurt the seller if someone doesn't pay as a joke and the seller gets charged a fee of 9% by ebay. The seller would then have to open a case to get his fee back, I believe, unless ebay holds off on charging the fee until an official payment is made. The fee on selling a $17K auction would be over $1500.
