- Ω - Posted September 12, 2016 Report Posted September 12, 2016 I've been pondering making a short You Tube video (less that 5 minutes) to "plug" the forums of this site, then posting links at various places on the Internet to drive some business this way. Which brings me to the following question.... What do YOU think would be the top things to mention? <<< My YouTube Page >>>
Rowsdower70 Posted September 12, 2016 Report Posted September 12, 2016 I think the key thing Atari.IO brings to the table are its great members. Very friendly, very generous, and love the hobby without being pretentious or cliquey. Also, our Junk Boxes and chat nights are a wonderful commodity to retro gamers. Add in the high score contests and the excellent trades.
MaximumRD Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Ditto and I would say, corny as it may sound, though we may not be the "biggest" site thanks to moderation we support a positive "vibe" in our community! More than just Atari we LOVE and support all things retro. - Ω - Posted September 13, 2016 Author Report Posted September 13, 2016 I'll work all these in, thanks! <<< My YouTube Page >>>
Justin Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Hi Omega, thanks for the plug! I would highlight the things that make Atari I/O a special place. Namely the uniquely warm and welcoming community we have. People here are very friendly, there’s a generous, giving spirit in the forums. We see it when everybody joins together to welcome a new member into the forums, or contributes toward getting them started with their first Atari 2600. We see it in our Retro Junk Box events and other acts of generosity in the forums. We don’t have flame wars and we don't allow this place to become a raging dumpster fire like other places can become. Some other things to consider: Atari I/O forums cover ALL classic game systems and computers, not just Atari Lots of members here are content producers who host excellent YouTube videos and Podcasts. Atari I/O is a good place to catch up with these guys and check out their shows. Atari I/O Blog and game reviews High Score Squad & Scoreboard Retro Junk Box & other fun events Chat room is almost a community in itself, and busy most nights Forums include extensive coverage of all aspects of Retro Life - Retro TV & Movies, Music, Books, Comics, Vintage Toys, Board Games and Nostalgia. Rest of the website is still in its infancy and being built out with info on games etc. Thanks for the site shoutout, hope this is helpful!
Rowsdower70 Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 It might not have the numbers certain other sites have, but I'd rather enjoy a luxurious journey in a train carriage, filled with vibrancy, than be crammed into a wagon full to the brim and thus having a very toxic atmosphere to it.. Beautifully stated. "For you - Rowsdower from the 70 - have been appointed Omnivisioner of the Game Grid." ~ Atari Adventure Square

Justin Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 I can only emphasise what's been said already.. It's the people that make Atari I.O simply work and you won't find a more friendly, welcoming Retro site online. The warmth and generosity of the community here coupled with the richness of knowledge, all freely shared, makes it what it is. It might not have the numbers certain other sites have, but I'd rather enjoy a luxurious journey in a train carriage, filled with vibrancy, than be crammed into a wagon full to the brim and thus having a very toxic atmosphere to it.. Quality over quantity, always
jmjustin6 Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 Excellent group of people! Warm environment. Awesome chats most nights. High score squad challenges. RJB!!
- Ω - Posted September 14, 2016 Author Report Posted September 14, 2016 SafeNontoxic.gif Would it be possible to make this on a transparent background? If so I could include it in the opening... I'll work on this over the next week or two as time allows. With any luck it'll be done by the first week in October. Unfinished Opening.zip <<< My YouTube Page >>>

- Ω - Posted September 14, 2016 Author Report Posted September 14, 2016 It would also be helpful (if one exists) to have a photo of some of the members at a gathering in one photo. Barring that, if people want to upload a photograph, I could make a collage for the section about friendly users. <<< My YouTube Page >>>
Justin Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 There's also this Atari I/O bumper which we've made openly available to download and be used in YouTube videos and podcasts for our members who want to spread the word about the site. You can save it using the download tool at http://keepvid.com. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jzP_S_fFlY
MaximumRD Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 I was just curious, FLASH VIDEO DOWNLOADER for Firefox seemed to offer a 1080p download option (.mp4 @3.23mb) on Justin's link. The resulting download For what it's worth this is not really my area of expertise. The original video was uploaded in Full HD Hmm... my version may be out of date. The only time I ever use Firefox is to rip videos off of You Tube. The only time I ever use Firefox is to rip videos off of You Tube. I've never found one for Chrome, although I've not looked in the past year either. Try Keepvid.com or Dredown.com. They rip videos through the website without needing to install plugins so you should be okay
