Fire_In_The_Valley 186 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 I don't remember those greenween, what are they? Just books that you choose your way through? 1 Arenafoot reacted to this
Arenafoot 2,336 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 I don't remember those greenween, what are they? Just books that you choose your way through? Yes Fire......you start off reading the first page then at the bottom of the page there's a choice to be made. Whichever choice you choose, it directions you to a certain page number that continues the story and so on and so on. 5 Justin, RetroVideoGameNerd, Fire_In_The_Valley and 2 others reacted to this
RadioPoultry 701 Report post Posted January 26, 2015 I read a lot of these as a kid. "The Forbidden Castle" was a particular favorite of mine. www.gamebooks.com has an exhaustive database of them and similar series. 2 Fire_In_The_Valley and greenween reacted to this

RadioPoultry 701 Report post Posted January 31, 2015 I picked these up about 15 years ago at Goodwill. They're CYOA-style books based (loosely, as far as I can tell) on the Zork text adventure games. I hadn't noticed before, but they're written by Steven Meretzky, who worked for Infocom. 1 greenween reacted to this

RadioPoultry 701 Report post Posted February 1, 2015 Those are cool! I don't think I ever had any. What's the copyright date? If you mean the Zork books, #1-3 are copyrighted 1983 and #4 is 1984. (I have 1, 3, and 4.) 1 RickR reacted to this

Arcade Dude 44 192 Report post Posted April 4, 2015 Man, I had totally forgotten those awesome "CYOA" books! I recall one actually had you write in the isbn code on the spline (which every book has, sort of like a serial #), with a cool name for it (using "isbn" as it's acronym)! I need to add some of those to my collection, my kids would get a kick out of those, as well. 1 greenween reacted to this
leolinden 714 Report post Posted April 4, 2015 I loved Choose Your Own Adventures. My dad told me about them a few years ago and read all of them in my school library. MAD paperbacks? You mean like MAD Magazine? 2 Yo-Yo and greenween reacted to this
greenween 2,390 Report post Posted April 15, 2015 Yes Leo, I have a box full of them. During the 70s and 80s Mad released a ton of paperbacks that were pretty much just greatest hits and compilations of a particular artist. Been collecting them since I was a kid. Very cool.
