Kid A Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 I get one. Should i get the one with the membrane keyboard or the regulatlr keyboard one with 2 missing buttons. Sabertooth, Justin and Lost Dragon 3 Quote
Sabertooth Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Does the membrane keypad work? If so, I'd go with that. It's the more iconic of the two! Kid A, The Professor and Lost Dragon 3 Quote
RadioPoultry Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Assuming those missing keys still work if you press them, I'd go for the regular keyboard. Kid A and Lost Dragon 2 Quote
RickR Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 You absolutely want the one that's original and stock. I highly recommend the 400 to anyone that wants a really great game machine. It is the equal of the 5200. And there are a TON of game carts out there. I will tell you this about the original membrane keyboard. It works. I've never seen one broken. Pick any other Atari computer, and you'll find keyboard issues after 30 years. But not that one. And for anyone complains that it's hard to type on....well, Atari made that machine to be an entry level computer that played great games. If you wanted to program and type...the 800 was available for you. Lost Dragon, RadioPoultry, Justin and 4 others 7 Quote
RickR Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 And PS - of all my collection, I think I love my Atari 400 the best of all my machines. It's just so dang cool looking. There is absolutely no other machine that looks like it. So wedgey. So 70's. It's glorious. This from a guy that owns 6 8-bit computers. The 800XL is the best one overall, but the 400 is a work of art. Lost Dragon, Kid A and Atari 5200 Guy 3 Quote

I am now a proud owner of an Atari 400 that doesn't look like it was tossed off a building. So excited to have it! iamscuba2, nosweargamer, The Professor and 7 others 10 Quote
Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Good choice! I was going to say the 400 with the membrane keyboard but you beat me to it. I honestly believe you will like it. You did get the power supply to it...right? Very nice! If you don't mind my asking...where'd you find it at? And PS - of all my collection, I think I love my Atari 400 the best of all my machines. I always liked how it looked like those old IBM electric typewriters. . .and as heavy as one of those, too! The 400 is in a style all on its own. There's not another one like it as you have mentioned...and I think the memory can be upgraded as well. Rowsdower70 and Lost Dragon 2 Quote

I did not get it with a power supply but i do have one. I already have a A400 that came with one but its so beat up. Pieces are missing from the shell, there are no screws holding it together. The plastic is really fragile. It just looks horrible. I didnt pay anything for it as someone gave it to me knowing i like Atari stuff. I used it once just to see if it worked but stored it soon after. I got it at a shop that my buddy runs. Its called Gameswappers and its Montclair CA. He doesnt really carry much atari because he said he doesnt know much about it. He mainly does NES and newer. I do work there twice a week as his repair guy and he calls me his Atari specialist. He has been getting slightly more atari since ive neen there. Anyways, so happy i got one thats in nice shape and can actually display proudly! Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Not to be nosey or anything but does he have Wii's and how much? I'm curious what he is asking for those compared to other online places. And I just seen some photos online on Yelp...holy crap!! The boxes of NES games!!! I'd be in there for days on end looking for stuff I don't have. Wow! We need something like that here. Quote
