Atari Creep Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Has anyone seen or heard of this beast? I soooooo feel like a Sega noob for never hearing about this thing. Lost Dragon, jmjustin6, Atari 5200 Guy and 2 others 5 Quote Don't just watch TV, PLAY IT!
Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 That's weird. It has a Sega Genesis controller...and it doesn't look attractive to me. Looks like a China model and if it is a cheaper alternative to pick up a Master System it might be worth looking into getting. To answer your question...nope...never heard of it. RickR Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 I'm pretty sure I have a Samsung Genesis controller (black) that I found a while ago. If I remember correctly, Samsung licensed the Genesis for South Korea. The controller I have is exactly the same as a Sega one...just the brand is different. RickR Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 I'll have to find it...I think it's in the attic. Will look for it some time soon. Lost Dragon, Atari Creep and Atari 5200 Guy 3 Quote
nosweargamer Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Yeah, due to politics, Samsung was in charge of Sega's stuff in North Korea. The Master System was called the Samsung Super Gam*Boy (pictured is the Gam Boy 2) The Game Gear was the Handy Gam*Boy and the Genesis was the Super Aladdin Boy. Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Wow! The carts for the Korean Master System look like old 8-tracks. I also like the controllers that their SMS got. Interesting. Lost Dragon 1 Quote
DCG Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 That Samsung SMS looks like it's for little kids thanks to its blue and purple colors. Lost Dragon 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp_iJmaoVpbqFDcewhi_aqA

DCG Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 It looks like it's related to the Sega Pico: pico.jpg It really does! Is the Samsung SMS NTSC or PAL? Lost Dragon 1 Quote https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp_iJmaoVpbqFDcewhi_aqA
Atari Creep Posted February 14, 2017 Author Report Posted February 14, 2017 It looks like it's related to the Sega Pico: pico.jpg In color palate I can see that but they are completely different animals all together. I had a chance to grab a Pico with a bunch of stuff for it for around $20 this past summer but passed. Missed opportunity. nosweargamer and Lost Dragon 2 Quote Don't just watch TV, PLAY IT!

However, the Pico and Genesis both share the same CPU chip.
