jmjustin6 Posted April 14, 2017 Report Posted April 14, 2017 (edited) So this past week i have found a few handhelds that i was happy to find. I could feel that there were batteries in them but i didnt have a screwdriver so couldnt see the condition of em. Anyway they all had popped / leaked batteries in them. My question is what is the best method to clean the battery compartment out? I was reading online and i see either backing soda or white vinegar are the best methods. What do yall use? RickR Posted April 14, 2017 Report Posted April 14, 2017 I always start very gentle and then move up. So I start with just plain soapy water and a soft toothbrush. If that doesn't do the trick, baking soda/water is the next step. And finally, a mix of water and "Barkeeper's Friend". Always with a soft toothbrush. jmjustin6, Atari Adventure Square, Rowsdower70 and 1 other 4 Quote

I use both, I think the science behind it is bringing the PH level back to zero ... for acid damage; Baking soda. For Alkaline leakage; White vinegar if you mix the baking soda with white vinegar you can get a "scrubbing action" as it bubbles oh yeah , don't do this while eating & make sure to wash hands really good when done Edited April 14, 2017 by chas10e Lost Dragon, Atari Adventure Square and jmjustin6 3 Quote
