Kid A Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) So excited that I will be making the 996.4 mile trek to attend this year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I have never been to this event and I'm so excited that I'll be there this year! I can't wait to go! Who else is going? Edited September 17, 2018 by Kid A RickR, Arenafoot, Justin and 1 other 4 Quote
Justin Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 That should be kind of a big deal Quote
TrekMD Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 Cool. You're going to love it. I want for the first time two years ago and now I make the effort to go every year. Having said that, I will be there this year. Justin and Kid A 2 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...

I know for sure we'll be going to this place where they serve these amazing looking biscuits. It looks so good I want to try them! Justin 1 Quote
RickR Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 Pine State Biscuits, I assume. Very good choice. Quote
CrossBow Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 The missus and I will also be attending PRGE for the first time. I've attended CGE in the past and of course until 2 years ago had been hosting my own much smaller con here in Oklahoma for 12 years. We will be arriving on Thursday and staying through the weekend. I believe we are in a hotel just a block from the event so we aren't planning to get a rental car or anything. Hopefully we don't have a real need for one. RickR Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 You definitely do not need a car. The light rail will take you from the airport to your hotel. And that same light rail will take you over the river into downtown Portland if you want to explore that. I think that's plenty...but if you end up wanting to see more, uber and lyft are both prevalent here. In the area of your hotel, I highly recommend "Little Big Burger", "Frank's Noodle House", and "Cafe Yumm". Great food that isn't too spendy. With all of us Atari.io folks coming, we should try to get together at least on the show floor or something. Get a good group photo and say hello. Arenafoot 1 Quote
TrekMD Posted September 20, 2018 Report Posted September 20, 2018 The light rail works perfectly. You can make it to the airport and the convention center area easily and then walk to the hotel. It's cheap also! We should try getting together! I agree. Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...

RickR Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Turns out, I'm only going to be available to attend on Friday. Quote
TrekMD Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Oh, then we should try to meet up that day. I land in the afternoon. Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
Kid A Posted October 2, 2018 Author Report Posted October 2, 2018 I'll be there setting up on Thursday all the way till the end of the show on Sunday! It would be cool to see some of you guys! Quote
RickR Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Cool. Let's shoot for Friday afternoon if possible. I'll take a look at the schedule to see what's going on. For now, I plan on taking the day off of work on Friday. Quote
TrekMD Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 I land around 2 pm, if there are no delays. I'll grab the train to downtown. Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
Kid A Posted October 18, 2018 Author Report Posted October 18, 2018 Left at 4:10 am this morning and arrived here at 8:10 pm. It was a looong 16 hour drive. Can't wait for the event! Quote

That is a long and difficult (in places) drive! The few times I've done it, we usually stop near Sacramento and stay overnight at a hotel. Drive safely, my friend. I'll be at the show on Friday only, from noon until 3 or 4-ish. If you guys want, PM me and I can send you my phone #. Or just PM me here I guess to meet up. Quote
TrekMD Posted October 19, 2018 Report Posted October 19, 2018 I'm at MIA wating to get on my first flight over to Portland. Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
CrossBow Posted October 19, 2018 Report Posted October 19, 2018 My wife and I got in yesterday about 2pm. But as we had been up non-stop since 3am to make the flights we were a bit wore out to be honest. We did meet some folks over at Red Robin briefly but otherwise we crashed out pretty early last night. I'm just now waking up as it is and should be there most of the day today. But most of the new releases aren't available until Saturday morning so... ugh with only like 50 copies of the various releases available I'm not sure I will be able to get all I had been looking for. Just have to see and most importantly, have a ton of fun regardless! Quote See what I'm up to over at the Ivory Tower Collections: http://www.youtube.com/ivorytowercollections
RickR Posted October 19, 2018 Report Posted October 19, 2018 A few pictures from the short time I was able to attend. No access to the vendor area today. But holy frijoles, the arcade/free-play area is HUGE this year. I played a lot of pinball. For whatever reason, I really dug Williams' "Space Shuttle" and played that a lot. And I had a blast doing that. I also played the "sit down" cabinets they had. Pole Position being a favorite. Badges this year are made to look like NES carts. And a picture of RickR there at the end. I was unable to meet up with TrekMD or KidA as I had to leave early for work. Kid A 1 Quote
