Great pick for the squad challenge!  This is my first time playing this version of Shinobi since at least 1991! My childhood best friend had an SMS and I loved this game.

Shinobi is what introduced me to the Sega Master System. It was the first game I played. I was at a friend's house, and he and his older brother were Shinobi ninja masters. I really loved the Sega Master System, there are a lot of really awesome games on there. I wish we could do a Phantasy Star Squad Challenge. SMS is what opened me up to other systems and made me realize I had a passion for 8-Bit gaming outside of just Atari. It's hard to imagine 1986-1989 without enjoying all of these systems to the max.

Dude that is incredible.

I can't remember if it was Shinobi, Rampage or Space Harrier that I played first. I just recall being very impressed when I first played an SMS in 1989.  At the time I had an XEGS so you can imagine how much better the SMS looked and played compared to Atari's repackaged A8.

New score: 131,500

Absolutely can! One of the first games I played on Sega Master System at my friend's house was F-16 Fighting Falcon. It was my first time seeing a Sega Card. I thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen! This was before the TurboGrafx-16 came out. The Sega Cards were less expensive than regular game cartridges and F-16 Fighting Falcon wasn't that impressive of a game, honestly this is one example where the XEGS may have outshined the SMS with Flight Simulator II. But playing video games on something the size of a credit card seemed really impressive. The other thing that stood out to me was using dual controllers to play F-16 Fighting Falcon. My friend and I (we were kids at the time) made a really cool "cockpit" out of cardboard boxes and magic marker. We taped the two Sega Master System controllers to our cardboard cockpit and flew what we thought were the coolest missions. Our cardboard controller beat Nintendo Labo by 30 years. :sega_master_system:

Awesome challenge!! I already see a lot of great attempts 😅

I’ll definitely have a crack at this. The Master System was my second console after the 2600 and shinobi was one of my favorite games back then! Never managed to beat it though, curious to see how I’ll do now 😄
