This weekend I went to Orlando with my family. It was a great! On Saturday I went to Universal & Islands of Adventure. Currently it is required you wear a mask unless eating or drinking while in the parks. Before you exit the parking garage your temperature is taken. The park felt crowded and very busy but wait times were low as compared to a typical Saturday. I think the longest I waited for a ride was 30 minutes at most.

Each ride required social distancing, so for each car, or whatever the ride has, it would be one family/group of people at a time. I got front row on every ride I went on because of this! That was cool. Lines required social distancing as well. Stickers on the floor indicated where to stand. Before your turn on a ride an employee gives you hand sanitizer.

Wearing a mask all day in FL summer heat was difficult, and I don’t plan on doing it again. I would love to return to Universal hopefully not too long from now but not until it is safe to no longer wear masks. I have never felt so hot ever! The water rides had the longest wait times, it had to be at least 98 degrees out. 🥵

Overall, it was a fun trip! I liked Universal better than Islands of Adventure btw 😄

That must have been a fun trip. I have never been any farther south in the US than Indianapolis, IN, and that was for only a day. I had lived in Indiana for two years and we were picking up somebody from Indianapolis. I have, however, been to ValleyFair. It is an amusement in the town of Shakopee, MN. I have been there three times. It has roller coasters, arcades, and water rides. They are open until October, but I am not sure what this year's status is for the park. Not too far away from ValleyFair is Canterbury Park, a horse track and casino (we call them "racinos" up here). At least, I think it is also a casino. I think that they allowed slot machines there, too, according to Minnesota state law. It has been a few years since I studied that.

Glad you had a good time.  I've planned trips for October and December.  I'm going to the Disney Parks and Universal.  Disney has their reservation system to limit capacity.  Universal just limits capacity so you need to make in early.  Are all the lines virtual now at Universal?

Those are both good times to go! I love Disney but unfortunately they are not reopening until I believe July 11. The Jimmy Fallon ride and a ride in the Harry Potter section were virtual lines only. From what I can remember I think there were a few rides offering the virtual line, but I mainly used the Universal app as a map so I didn't really look too into them. I only saw a virtual line sign in front of the Jimmy Fallon ride.

I know of two rides that were designed with virtual lines in mind: Jimmy Fallon and the one with Vin Diesel.  The Harry Potter attraction did not have virtual lines before but it is ride that gets packed, so it makes sense they've added that now.  Thanks.  I'm trying to get a feel for how it is working.

I used to live in Illinois, and it was too cold there for me.

Lately, in Minnesota, it has been in the upper 80s to low or middle 90s. Summers are hot in Minnesota. I know. I have lived most of my life in Minnesota. But, you're right. It's bitter cold in the wintertime. Sometimes, it gets to almost -30º F. One winter, in Faribault, MN, it was -59º F. Once, in Moorhead, MN, it got to 114º F. Those temperature extremes were the highest and lowest ever recorded in the State of Minnesota.

In IL right now it is very hot too! My family there said it's been unusually hot lately 😳

I remember when I lived there and as it would start to get warmer I'd be so happy. Illinois is very gloomy the majority of the year so I was always excited once the weather started warming up and I could see the sky hehe

Yes. It sure can be. I lived in Indiana for two years, so I know. So close to Illinois.
