This weekend my family went to Aztalan State Park. It is this ancient civilization thing they excavated. They don't know much about it. It's a sort of Mississippian civilization like the Aztecs sort of. There was even a dirt pyramid! They speculate that they partook in ritual sacrifice. It's from around 1000-1200 ad. It is a mystery why it is so far north and so much bigger than others they found like it; they had no written language. It was pretty creepy with the lack of people, the overcast skies, and chilly weather. We had a picnic there. It was very interesting. socrates63 1 Quote

RickR Posted September 8, 2020 Report Posted September 8, 2020 That is cool. I think we are starting to learn that our knowledge of early N. American peoples and how they got there is incomplete. The Russia/Alaska land bridge theory is starting to look less significant. socrates63 1 Quote
