MaximumRD Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Been playing Nascar Rumble - Playstation & the sequel Rumble Racing - Playstation 2 and remembering what a blast it was playing these back in the day. Really just adrenaline rush racing with power ups like Mario Kart, the "NASCAR" licensing didn't really add anything to the point they dropped it in the PS2 follow up. Just spent a few hours playing both, forgot what a blast they are to play. 😎😜 Not the prettiest games and not often brought up even in retro gaming circles so thought I would mention and recommend them to anyone who may have over looked them. nosweargamer Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 I remeber working in a toy/game department around 1999 and how there seemed to be a flood of racing games with a mix of straight up racing games and Mario Kart style racing games. My wife even bought me a Smurf kart racing game for the PS1 that I might still have. While something like Gran Turismo would rise to the top, it seems that most racing games simply got overlooked. I think I'd like those games you shared. socrates63 and MaximumRD 2 Quote The No Swear Gamer on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtJuo040EOCTVziObIgVcg Host of The Atari 7800 Game by Game Podcast on iTunes, Stitcher and YouTube
RickR Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 I have a ps2 steering wheel I should get out to enjoy these games. I agree they are super fun, and tend to get overlooked. socrates63 and MaximumRD 2 Quote
socrates63 Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Nice! Dare I say, hidden gems? I haven't gotten into many racing games but the kart style and arcade racers are my favorite. The only sim style I got into was the original Gran Turismo. MaximumRD 1 Quote
Atari 5200 Guy Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Kind of reminds me of the Destruction Derby PS1 games. Those were fun especially when in 2 you ran the courses backwards until you were the only one left on the track...then finish your lap. I loved those and Sony's Rally Cross. socrates63, MaximumRD and RickR 3 Quote
MaximumRD Posted November 25, 2020 Author Report Posted November 25, 2020 Continuing my PS1 / PS2 playing as of late, I played a couple hours of Road Rash 3D - PS1. Ah man, it all came back like it was just the other day, all the locations, getting my as handed to me the last minute before the finish line etc. Good times. 😆😎 nosweargamer and socrates63 2 Quote I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life.
