RickR Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 I just challenged my oldest to play Utopia, and then World Championship Baseball on Intellivision (neither one of us has ever played). Yes, we read the instructions, and had overlays. Utopia: Well. Hmmm. I know a lot of you love this game. But we just didn't get it. Lots of ways to spend gold. Not many ways to make it! Maybe we need lessons. Dad loses by 50 points. Baseball: We got this one pretty easily. But that control scheme is pretty bonkers. How can you play without looking at the controller? More practice is needed I think. Dad wins 10-9 In any case, classic gaming was done. A great way to spend Father's Day.

Arenafoot Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 I just challenged my oldest to play Utopia, and then World Championship Baseball on Intellivision (neither one of us has ever played). Yes, we read the instructions, and had overlays. Utopia: Well. Hmmm. I know a lot of you love this game. But we just didn't get it. Played the NES Legend of Zelda, that I won from Greenween, today for the first time ever (Yes, I've never played this before). I was just walking around and hitting the buttons with nothing happening to kill the enemies. Then I saw a doorway and went in and it was asking me to buy something. And I'm thinking, this game from 1985 wants my credit card info?!?!?!?! Then I realized they want me to spend the coins for the items. But I don't have any coins. By this point I reset the game and saw the doorway on the first screen and found the sword. Then I realized how to play. Played for a little bit, sometimes throwing the sword and sometimes just jabbing the sword and got a few coins. Then went back into a couple of the doorways as to buy something they wanted 20, 30, or 50 coins for items WTH?!?!?! Safe to say......I shut it down and went back to "Ol' Reliable".... RC Pro-Am!!
