I @intellicilecvisonary, did not create astomiman. astomiman mysteriously appeared after I forgot my password and requested a password change so I assumed the glitch would be obvious to you, but wow, Do not %!#$& with us! I just thought I'd have a little fun while paraphrasing Castlevaia SOTD. I guess I inadvertantly hit a nerve. By the way where did the name astomiman come from and what does it mean?

I just posted receipts showing you did

Accounts don't "mysteriously appear" they are created, vetted, approved, and monitored - and in this case banned for multiple violations of House Rules

Don't bullshit a bullshitter

Yeah, three of my Moderators texting and calling my phone in the middle of a workday to alert me of your buffoonery would be obvious to me

the glitch

You talking to yourself from two different accounts which you created isn't a "glitch"

Abusing our community with your repeated wonton violations of House Rules doesn't "inadvertently hit a nerve" -- you've made yourself look stupid

What a reputation to leave behind

Thank you JUSTIN and all involved in weeding out this pest. We don't want these type of nonsense and shenanigans here. This is a small but supportive and proud community. It always boggles my mind when someone cannot simply appreciate just sharing and having fun but instead resort to these type of nonsense for attention or what? Well you got it and congratulations now you are banned. Sacrificing your presence here because you foolishly assume you are smarter than the admins and other good standing members here 🙄 Well, it's never long too long before fools like intellicilecvisonary are shown the door.

Not sure why folks feel the need to have multiple accounts? In my mind, they would do so only so they can post stuff they might suspect would cause problems for them and don't want to risk their normal accounts doing so? I've never felt the need to use anything other than the one accounts I create at any forum and in fact, I've been using the CB alias in some form as you see it here since the BBS days in the early 90s.

It is too bad as under his primary account he was contributing and seemed to be pretty cool this second go round and then... out of the blue stuff like this? I don't know why and I feel best to not understand sometimes.

He wasn't unbanned. He created a new account that initially slipped under the radar. It was his reply to my PSA post about the 5200 that wasn't packed well that started the closer investigation. It was confirmed then that it was the same person from back in June (I missed most of that apparently), but Justin was willing to see how it rode out since at the time everything seemed to be cool. And it was... until yesterday it seems.

I’ll take the blame for this one. @Gianna and I spoke face to face about this. She tells me she clearly remembers @intellicolecovisonary being banned in the first week of June - and that she was the one who banned him and I signed off on it 🤔

Here's the Art Bell-level weird thing about all this: We've kept detailed records of incidents like these (which are few and far between) dating back to the launch of the Forums in 2014, and yet there’s no record of him being banned.

I remember something happening with him in early June, but I remember differently. I was busy/away from the forums for a few weeks towards the end of May. Around that time, @intellicolecovisonary became riled up about something - who knows - possibly a disagreement with another member. He vandalized some threads by abusing the perpetual “Edit” feature that we have in our community (which is what makes it possible for all of us to keep our "Wish Lists" updated, "For Sale" threads, etc. by always having that ability to go back and edit a post from 7 hours ago, 7 days ago, 7 years ago.) What I remember is @intellicolecovisonary deleting swaths of posts and topic titles - replacing paragraphs with periods - and then storming off the site, apparently at the time never to be heard from again. I was under the impression that he had effectively "banned himself" by storming off in a huff. I also had other Atari I/O Moderators forwarding us messages that had been sent to them by Moderators from other communities to warn us with similar experiences about that member that had resulted in a permanent ban of @intellicolecovisonary from their site.

It’s at this point that @Gianna says she came to me with this issue and I gave the go-ahead to move forward with banning him from the site. This make sense as his actions up through this point in the story are enough to warrant a ban.

@intellicolecovisonary returned to Atari I/O a few months later, presumably after things blew over, but had trouble logging in and at that time attempted to create a 2nd account. I messaged him briefly, letting him know that if he had forgotten his login credentials we could easily reset them for him, there was no need for an additional account as we only allow one account per person to prevent these issues from arising. I checked our platform's database along with our own "analog" records, and everything showed his original @intellicolecovisonary account as being an active Member - not banned. I merged his newly created account with the old one, reminded him to abide by the House Rules including the limit of "One account per person", and told him he is welcome here so long as he is a good member to all in our community.

Unfortunately things took a turn.

I don't get it either. He was banned twice, wasn't he?

Not to my knowledge, but I’m being told this is the case?

I mean, it seemed he was banned once before and was forgiven. That usually doesn't happen here.

You’re right @DegasElite, that doesn’t happen here. We are always open to hearing another side of the story, to the fact that misunderstandings can occur and the possibility that we misconstrued a Member's intent. If one of our great Members here had something odd happen - an airport laptop hacking, a visiting nephew deciding to join Atari I/O and appearing on our end like it was one Member attempting to create multiple accounts, etc. - we are open minded, understanding, and act with reason. However these things would be worked out before an account is banned.

@DegasElite Yes, I remember banning him back in June. I wondered the same thing, I’m not sure what happened or how he became unbanned.

I'm gonna wreck it!! :wreck-it-ralph_anim:

@CrossBow is 💯% correct. Crossbow was on top of things, had his spider-senses honed in and saw this one coming a mile away.

My thoughts exactly! I was kind of enjoying his joystick posts, he seemed to be getting along with everybody pretty well and settling into the community. I hate, hate, hate, having to ban people. It’s not something I enjoy doing or want to do. It would've been nice to have this work and enjoy spending time with another active new Member in the forums. I wish he hadn’t put us in that position. We wish him the best wherever he goes.

I’ve kept this thread open in the interest of transparency. While there’s a limit to posting about someone who is no longer here to respond or defend themselves, we are always going to be open and transparent with our Members about what happens here.

The bright side of this little sideshow is that it gave me an opportunity to get to know some of you a little better! Our Moderators were on top of this, as were a few of our Members who messaged me privately. I appreciate the help of everyone here and appreciate our Members more than words can say. We have a great little community and all of you seem to understand that we have to protect it and help shape it’s “culture” as it grows and new members come on board. It was really great to have so many people on top of this, and to get to know some of you a little better through this. We love our Members and I appreciate what each and every one of you bring to the Forums.
