StormSurge Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 I take it this isn't a good thing. http://imgur.com/gallery/otYhE/new The paddles barely work at all (aside from this connection issue, there's something rattling around inside.) I have ZERO technical skills, so repairing these myself is not an option. Can they be salvaged at all? If not, can someone use them for parts? Just trying to figure out my next step. Assuming I need new ones, where's the best place to buy them?
greenween Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 Sorry man, I got nothing. "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
greenween Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 I'm sure there are some member suggested sites that will give you a fair price! "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
RickR Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 I'm not sure I see the problem. Those are the correct pins for a paddle controller. Can you describe exactly how the controllers work? Do the buttons work? Are they just herky-jerky movement wise on the screen?
greenween Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 I had the herky jerky problem recently. A good cleaning did the trick. "Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime."
Arenafoot Posted August 1, 2015 Report Posted August 1, 2015 I had the herky jerky problem recently. A good cleaning did the trick. I've heard the same thing.......but I went and bought used ones from Gameovervideogames.com instead - work perfect Brian Matherne - owner/curator of "The MOST comprehensive list of Atari VCS/2600 homebrews ever compiled." http://tiny.cc/Atari2600Homebrew author of "The Atari 2600 Homebrew Companion" book series available on Amazon! www.amazon.com/author/brianmatherne
StormSurge Posted August 2, 2015 Author Report Posted August 2, 2015 The holes for the pins look damaged. Like most of the holes are missing metal lining that's present in other holes? Does that make sense? I'm sorry. I tried to warn you that I was clueless. ????
RickR Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 I think that's normal. Like, some of the pins aren't needed for the paddle. My best guess is that you just need to take the pots apart and clean them up really well. Do a google search, it's pretty easy if you take your time and are careful.
StormSurge Posted August 2, 2015 Author Report Posted August 2, 2015 I'll give it a shot! Thanks Rick!
Justin Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 I'm thinking this would make a good video tutorial. We should get to work on those.
StormSurge Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 I'm finally getting around to tackling this project. For those that have done this previously, do these instructions seem accurate? http://www.vintagegamingandmore.com/atari-paddle-repair-cleaning/
