Justin Posted August 1, 2022 Author Report Posted August 1, 2022 Biff's Gaming Videos has a quick and simple overview of Pengo for the Atari 5200. It's a great place to start if you're new to the game! Sabertooth and RickR 2
Atari 5200 Guy Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 It's a good game and one I missed when the 5200 was in production. I will be joining in on this one. My 5200 isn't doing too good but I might be able to squeeze one game out of it for this challenge. Intermediate though? You really trying to kill us, aren't ya? 😁 Justin 1
TrekMD Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Oh, this is a good game. I suck at it, though! LOL I shall try! Justin and RickR 2 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...

I have had this game for a while now and only played it seldom. I hope one of three controllers will hold out. My poor 5200 is really starting to show its age. I am, however, getting a great picture out of it again. No fuzzies! I'm going to give it a go. Poor penguin. I know I'm going to kill this poor fella. Justin, Sabertooth and RickR 3
Atari 5200 Guy Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Oh. Does anyone here know if this game was made for the XL/XE computers? Justin 1
Atari 5200 Guy Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Well. Here goes. Wish me luck! Boldly going where no penguin has gone before. Justin and Sabertooth 2

- Ω - Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Oh! Oh! Oh! Yes, a challenge for the 5200! I'll probably place behind the pack, but I'll endeavor to find time to participate and post my score! I recently moved my 5200 into the living room so it's ready to go! RickR Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 I'm going to join in too. I think those of us that have a digital controller of some kind will have a very slight advantage. I'm not very good at it either. Especially trying to line up the diamond blocks for bonus points. This is an inspired choice for the challenge, as this is a very underrated game (both arcade and home console versions). Justin 1

I played two games this morning and barely broke 6K. 😭 For some reason I'm having and issue hitting the blocks going downwards. The joystick is centered, so I'll have to practice some more. Luckily the deadline will give me a chance to practice. Justin, RickR and Sabertooth 2 1 <<< My YouTube Page >>>

I have never used a Wico controller before let alone even seen one in person. Are they as good as some people claim? Justin and RickR 1 1

Are they as good as some people claim? Mine isn't a Wico, it's a "Competition Pro". I like it, but it's only good on games that use one button (like Pengo). Using both buttons is really hard to do with only 5 fingers. The stick is clicky and works well -- totally digital. I actually DID have a Wico before, and it also was a big improvement over the stock stick. I can't remember if that one was digital or not -- I don't think it was. But it for sure was self-centering. Anyway, I didn't feel like I needed both the Wico and the Competition Pro, so I sold the Wico to a friend for a low price. That friend and I now also have a little adapter that allows the use of a 2600 stick, which also works really well for single button games. I think there's a thread about that on the 5200 forum here if you are interested. Justin 1
Marco1019 Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 This one isn't working right with OpenEmu for some reason. I'll have to try Altirra or another emulator. I hope to get something posted tomorrow. Justin 1
