Not the most exciting of "adventures" but it's been far too long since my wife and I enjoyed a day out. So here we are at an old favorite the Harvest Golf Club for a nice meal and scenery!

Thanks guys yeah, we had visitors a month or so ago and entertaining and going out to wineries reminded us how much we enjoy it as well as how little we have been doing it the last couple years so we made the decision for mental health as well to give us something to look forward to by getting out once a week, this was the first place since making this decision.

It has been hard to get back out there.  My wife and I also have been trying  In the summer, it's easy to find places with outdoor dining, and that has been ok.  As for eating inside, we tend to go with our gut when we get there.  Is it full?  If yes, get it to go or just eat in the car (I keep towels and stuff handy and find a shady place to park).  This past weekend, we hit a nice higher-end burger joint by the airport and sat outside watching planes come and go.  It was really nice.

Pre-pandemic nonsense I would eat out 3 or 4 times a week for either lunch or dinner and never gave it any thought.  After all the restaurants were closed down I noticed I had an extra $300 - $350 every month.  After a year that was around $4,000.  Now I never eat out and instead use part of that money to buy new toys instead of flushing all that money down the toilet the next day.

After leaving the restaurant the sun and sky was looking odd, snapped these pictures quickly, figured it was from fires and then I read on our local news site:

“The orange haze of wildfire smoke has drifted over the Okanagan. The smoke is drifting north from the White River and Irving Peak Fires that are burning in the Cascade Mountains east of Seattle. The fires started when a lightning storm passed through the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest on Aug. 11, according to the U.S. Forest Service.”

Everything you ordered looks fantastic.  Makes me hungry.

As for the weird sky, we had the same thing here in Portland yesterday.  It wasn't as as bad as your pictures, but the sun was RED!  It's a little bit terrifying this time of year with all the wildfires.

I am inspired and my wife and I are going to try doing the same later this year.  We have our 30 yr anniversary trip to Hawaii planned in October, so we've still been playing it safe with covid exposure.  I do NOT want to risk missing that trip!

PS - here are pics of our sky from the weekend.  Wildfire smoke!  It was heavy and it was hard to breathe...kind of like being at elevation.

That's great Rick, yeah it has been nice "getting out there" again after being cooped up the last couple years, oh we take all precautions as much as possible, even encountered some rude people making comments etc, at the Golf course of all places, sad, but we don't let it stop us, we are both at high risk from diabetes and other ailments so if young strong people have an issue with it well that is their problem, we prefer to not take unnecessary risks. YES we are also getting the smoke and air quality alerts, looking out our balcony window right now looks like very overcast but it's actually smoke. We have our air filters going.

This is us right now.

The streak continues -- this place looks fantastic too.

Thanks guys. The food was absolutely terrific, my wife remarked it was the best Beef Brisket she'd ever had. Yes all around this was a excellent surprise I'd say, we will likely be back sooner than later, already ideas for what to try next visit!

This weeks outing coincides with our Anniversary (10/27/2022) continuing celebrations of 21 years since we met and 19 years of marriage. 😎😁Dining in Peachland. Drove over the bridge and went to the nearby municipality of Peachland a beautiful tiny community by the lake and enjoyed an amazing meal Cibo & Vines Italian restaurant followed by a nice walk by the lake.
