Lots of meals out, swimming, walking, and site seeing. It was a lot of fun and it's good to get out there again. Yeah it's always a struggle, more and more I TRY to enjoy the moment more instead of taking pictures. Nice yeah, we are only starting to get places like this FINALLY as Kelowna is heavily Alberta and Prairies influenced for better or worse so good to see this, I expect such a place in Seattle or Vancouver or even Toronto where I grew up but when we moved here 20 years ago it was a very closed off and closed minded bible belt type city, younger people and open minds are finally taking hold and we are here for it. I agree with Justin that these posts are most excellent. Thank you! My wife and I tried a new place this weekend called "The Carver Cafe". Apparently, they filmed a scene in the "Twilight" movie there. Whatever. It's a tiny little greasy spoon, but the food was good and it was fun to be there. I need to remember to take pictures like you do. My mom turns 85 today. We're taking her out for lunch, and she chose (don't facepalm) Olive Garden! I almost started laughing, but instead I told her "No problem, whatever you want". She's had a rough time of it the last year (as have we, watching her deteriorate) so I'm hoping for a nice day that makes her happy. I did it for you and Atari.io We went to lunch at Bob's Red Mill, which is a local health-food store specializing in grains and breads and such. This location has a restaurant, and it's super good. Justin Posted January 25, 2023 Report Share Posted January 25, 2023 Here we are at a new favorite, a local Italian pizza place called “Two Meatballs In The Kitchen”. We absolutely love going there. It’s flavorful, local and cozy with a nice menu. It's the perfect place to go on a Saturday afternoon 🍝 As an appetizer they serve the most delicious garlic knots you can imagine! Baby @Gianna usually orders a calzone or the Chicken Marsala with a side salad, and I order one of their specialty pizzas. Gianna had eaten here recently with her family and suggested we go, and it's become one of my favorite places to eat in this part of the state. It's an Italian restaurant but with a vibe that's more in keeping with a craft beer and burger place, as opposed to what you might expect from traditional Italian restaurants, chains, and local pizza joints. Only thing missing is a Ms. Pac-Man machine in the back! Gianna and I have eaten here a few times, and I even thought to take pictures and a short video to share with you in July and September! I meant to post these a few months ago, but Hurricane Ian hit and things have been weird. Justin, you need to do that hand gesture when the waiter comes back. "Why so few olives, paisan?" <hand gesture>. BOOM! That's how you do it. I took a picture of my son, and the food is in the picture. Since I don't have his permission, I cropped him out....It was really good and boy my fingers got tired using the chopsticks. Sadly, this place was "OK" overall, we won't be going back, we have pretty extensive experience for travel over the years, living in TORONTO etc, so while we are not snobby or connoisseur's in the least we do have some standards to compare and often what passes as great here in small town KELOWNA it's only because many here simply don't know better, I suspect even residents here who have been to Vancouver would have a broader appreciation. But we like to try all the different places in a given area before deciding what goes on our list of "Places to return" we have a few on it for sure since we started going out every week. Good food quality and value for money though it's getting tougher these days it can still be found on occasion.
