RickR Posted August 28, 2022 Report Posted August 28, 2022 I've moved my VCS to a different location in the house and onto a much older TV. The TV does not support 1080p, only 1080i. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the VCS supports 1080i. The VCS is going to 720p mode, which is fine. However, what I'm seeing on the screen is cut off edges. See the pictures below. I'm not able to change to a different resolution, and I don't see any settings for shrinking the display zone or anything like that. Does anyone know if there's any settings or fixes for this? I realize this TV is super old, but it has a lot of sentimental value and honestly has the best picture and sound quality of any LCD TV I've ever owned. Upgrading the TV is probably the answer, but I thought I'd check with you guys first to see if there is any fix. Thanks! Sabertooth 1
Sabertooth Posted August 28, 2022 Report Posted August 28, 2022 This happened to me on our older 55" Sony Bravia (2012). The fix was to change the TV settings to fit. Solution for this set was to change the "Wide" setting to "Full Pixel" mode. Try checking your older set for a similar setting. RickR 1
RickR Posted August 28, 2022 Author Report Posted August 28, 2022 Thanks for the response. I have a wide/zoom button, but it doesn't seem to help. Zoom simply makes the overscanned screen smaller. In other words, it's still cut off, but now with a black border around the edges. I've pressed every other button on the remote with no luck and also looked in the TV menu. Furthermore, I think my TV is even older than yours. I'm almost positive this was our main family TV when we moved into this house in 2002. I guess I'll keep my eye out for a nice new TV that isn't too big and that should fix it. In the meantime, I'll move the VCS back downstairs on our 50" Samsung, on which it looks great. Sabertooth 1
RickR Posted August 30, 2022 Author Report Posted August 30, 2022 Well, what can I say. Things happened more quickly than I thought. I have a friend who was upgrading, so I bought his old set. It's a 42" Panasonic that does 1080p and looks great. BOOM! I'm back in business. Sabertooth 1
RickR Posted August 30, 2022 Author Report Posted August 30, 2022 PS - the old Vizio that could not do 1080p was manufactured in 2007. OLD! Sabertooth 1
