The No Swear Gamer Atari 2600 Reviews

Wait so the auto fire is controlled with the black and white switch? Then how did you get it stay selected playing on your 7800? I can remember after playing and getting really good at Activision Space Shuttle, how ticked I was that I didn't have an easy method for controlling the ohms rockets once I got my 7800. As luck would have it, you can use a difficult switch to fire off the backup ohms rockets instead. But still...

Luckily, it defaults to automatic fire on a 7800, which is how I like playing.

Excellent Commando Raid review! I remember playing an almost identical "shoot all the paratroopers" game on an MS-DOS PC back when I was a kid around 1990, so I was thrilled when I discovered Commando Raid on the 2600 a couple years ago. I thought it was great fun too. :)

Thank You! I didn't realize there were other "shoot all the paratroopers games" !!!

It took a bit of searching to figure it out, but the MS-DOS game similar to Commando Raid that I used to play as a kid was called Night Raid and it came out in 1992. :)

Neat. I wonder if they were inspired by Commando Raid.

Normally I don't like when lawyers step in and change video games, but in this case I think it made the game more interesting. I always loved Sir Dudley Dashley! He's very "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" I didn't get Jungle Hunt until Summer 1993. Jurassic Park was out at the time and Sir Dudley Dashley reminded me of Dr. John Hammond who was played by Sir Richard Attenborough. Sir Dudley looks just like him, with the little hat and all. When I was young sometimes I'd pretend Sir Dudley was Dr. Hammond swinging on vines to escape those devious dinos.

During the next few weeks, I plan to cover some first person space shooters for the 2600.

Today I start with the first space action game that appeared on the system.
