MaximumRD Posted February 1, 2023 Report Posted February 1, 2023 Woke up today to look out the window and see this big surprise snowfall. Everything covered and it’s still coming down currently. Not that cold out just a lot of the white stuff.😲 DegasElite, Justin and RickR 3 Quote I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. CrossBow Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 We ended up getting about 3 inches of sleet all over and around the Ivory Tower. As such my driveway is now a death trap and while we closed the offices at my work Monday, the rest of the week has been worse since it melts a little during the day and then refreezes at night into something more solid and smooth. Ugh... Snow is fine, but we tend to get more sleet and ice in these parts. CrossBow Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 @RickR I just mean it is great when you can get actual snow, but it isn't something we get that much of where I live and instead we get more ice storms than anything. As a result I'm NOT a fan of this time of the year and never have been. Now several years back I spent about 3 months in the Denver area in the winter and was surprised because while it did snow quite a bit and it did get cold, it didn't feel nearly as cold as it does where I live. Additionally, cities and other locations that get a bunch of this weather throughout the year more are also much better prepared for it. The roads and parking lots were totally clear the whole time in the winter when I was there. RickR Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 I'm with you 100%. I hate ice. It means you are stuck at home (hopefully you are at home) until it melts because walking or driving is extremely dangerous. Here in Portland, ice storms used to be more regular Dec -> Feb. But the last decade or so, it's been more snow than ice, which is nicer. I've also been in Denver for work during winter and was amazed at how well they do in keeping roads open and clear. We just don't have that ability here. Driving in Denver was no issue. And our office there was up on some mountain. MaximumRD and Justin 2 Quote
