- Ω -
I'm officially an old fart, I'm an 8-bit guy trapped in a 64-bit world that wants to escape. I grew up with games like Lunar Lander, Battlezone, Omega Race, Missile Command, and Pole Position. Later on the PC castle Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem 3D and Doom. Now days the new games have no appeal to me, I don't have the time, energy or want to study a 3 inch manual or have to take a training course just to be able to play. I long for the time when I could simply pick up a simple controller, play a couple of games and move on. I suppose that is why I like my Atari 5200 and TI-99/4A. Both those systems are abandoned orphans, but for me they do what I want. It's sad that I cannot go onto Steam and buy ORIGINAL arcade versions of my old favorites. Of the titles you can buy, they are all prettied up with overdone graphics, that in my opinion detract from the game. TrekMD
Nothing like just inserting a cart, turning the console on, and playing! There's nothing I hate more than the damn updates whenever I turn on my PS4! Justin, RickR and socrates63 1 2 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming... RickR
So many retro options these days though. From buying an old console and games to the new Arcade1Up Atari 50 arcade machine. 8-bit stuff is everywhere! I don't think most people ever grow into wanting to read manuals 😆 1 hour ago, - Ω - said: I long for the time when I could simply pick up a simple controller, play a couple of games and move on.
