- Ω -
Can anyone help me figure this out. I run Chrome about 1/2 the time for certain websites, but even though I have a fast computer with plenty of memory and fast Internet, the browser often hangs. I don't get this problem when using Firefox or any other program for that matter. Any idea wazzup? Quote <<< My YouTube Page >>>
RickR
My guess would be some changes to the DNS settings in Chrome. Maybe you tried a service like Duck Duck Go or something that fiddled with those. You might try uninstalling chrome and re-installing from scratch. MistaMaddog
You can use other Chrome-based browsers that aren't resource hogs. I use Edge on Windows 10 and Chromium on Linux. Firefox is my main browser but I use the other ones for certain web based apps...
TrekMD
I tend to use Chrome to run my Google services primarily. My go-to is Firefox. You may want to check your Chrome settings as they recently added a memory management feature to help make Chrome faster. See if that is turned on as that will affect performance. It essentially has Chrome focus resources on the open tab you are using to make things smoother. MistaMaddog 1 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming... RickR
Seems like we are all using Firefox! I thought I was the last one left. I'm upgrading to a new computer this weekend. Firefox made it pretty easy on me. Just set up the "sync" service and BOOM, the new computer Firefox now looks very similar to my old one. Although I'm sure other browsers have this feature too 🙂 MistaMaddog
TrekMD
I've set up several computers for my office and that Sync function sure makes things easy! And it works better than Chrome's version! RickR
RIght? It copies EVERYTHING. Plugins, passwords, bookmarks, etc. Now, what the heck happened to Thunderbird? The new version looks absolutely horrible. Tiny text and weird placement of buttons.
TrekMD
I haven't used Thunderbird in a while. I need to check it out. Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
MistaMaddog
Ironically I downloaded Thunderbird to replace my old Windows 10 mail app which was, under protest, replaced by the new Outlook app that spams Inboxes with ads. I also use Gmail online also but the send mail feature uses it's own funky interface that made it hard for me to find the file attach button, which was an embassment when I was trying to send a resume for a job position but HR didn't get it. 😥 RickR
RickR
I use Thunderbird to have the GMail and Comcast e-mail addresses use the same app. It works well for that. But boy is this new interface ugly. MistaMaddog
